The world was stumbling in darkness before Islam

Surah ‘TAWBAH or BARAAA-‘AH (REPENTANCE) – Chapter – 9)

Stage – 2, Verse – 64 of 129, Section – 8 of 16 (Part of – 10)

                                                                      

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim

In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

64.  The hypocrites fear lest a Surah should be revealed concerning them, proclaiming what is in their hearts. Say: Scoff (your fill)! Lo! Allah will surely expose what ye fear.

64.  Yahzarul-Munaa-fiquuna  ‘an-  tunazzala  ‘alay-him  suuratun-  tunabbi-‘uhum  bimaa  fii  quluu-bihim.  Qulis-tahzi-‘uu.  ‘InnAllaaha  mukhri-jummaa  tah-zaruun.

                                                                             

Lesson

Condition of the Hypocrites was indeed very astonishing. Their hearts did not desire that the people should be obedient to the Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) and Islam succeed, because they were observing clearly; death of their chief-ship and dignity in it. But they were helpless due to existing circumstances, because the strength of the Muslims was increasing rapidly before their eyes day and night. And it was becoming more necessary for them day by day to make good relations with the Muslims.  

It was the reason that as much as possible; they used to flatter the Muslims apparently, but privately they did not miss any chance of wickedness against them being forced by their hearts. And they used to amuse in this manner that “If the news reached the Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam), He (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) is very Forbearer and Mild. We shall make Him to understand by telling lies”.

But denial of the Revelation was difficult for them, because there was no scope of suspicion now in Its truth. Therefore, they remained afraid every time that lest any such Surah is revealed due to which the dark side of our deeds is opened. The same has been explained in this verse.

It is commanded that these double-dealers and ostentatious people fear: lest such Chapter should be revealed that those entire secrets are disclosed which are held in our hearts. If it was so then the evil would come upon us in full scale. Then it is commanded: You continue setting your traps of imposture and carry on your habits of joking and deceiving the Muslims. God Almighty has been observing everything.

In the process of time, surely God shall expose all those matters which are in your hearts and you will hide your heads through shame. Your fear will come before you. It is impossible that due to your mischievous tactics, the growth of the True Religion is stopped and the world sets back again in the darkness, in which it had been stumbling since long.
