Old people (L-3105)

وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْنٍ هُمْ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُم بَطْشًا فَنَقَّبُوا۟ فِى ٱلْبِلَٰدِ هَلْ مِن مَّحِيصٍ 36 إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَذِكْرَىٰ لِمَن كَانَ لَهُۥ قَلْبٌ أَوْ أَلْقَى ٱلسَّمْعَ وَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ 37 |

36. Wa kam ‘ahlakNaa qabla-hum-min- qarnin hum ‘ashaddu minhum batshan- fanaqqabuu fil- bilaad. Hal mim- mahiis. 37. ‘Inna
fii zaalika la-Zikraa
liman- kaana lahuu
qalbun ‘aw ‘alqas-sam-'a wa
huwa shahiid. |

36. And
how many a generation We destroyed before them, who were mightier than these
in prowess so that they overran the lands! Had they any place of refuge (when
the judgment came)? 37. Lo!
Therein verily is a reminder for him who has a heart, or gives ear with full
intelligence. |
It is commanded: These people must learn from the circumstances of those who were before them and think that what did they do and what was result of their deeds. The fact is it that We destroyed many a generation which were before them, whose people were stronger than these. They used to assault upon others with full force and had more power of vanquishing others than these people. They did not care any other before themselves, disobeyed Our Prophets (peace be upon them) and considered that they were common people and desired to keep them under their control.
Therefore, they gripped up their loins to tyrannize the Prophets
(peace be upon them) also and did not understand that they were appointed by Allaah
Almighty for their guidance, and that they must not oppress them, but let His
slaves live in His obedience. At last when they did not admit at any cost, then
Allaah Almighty sent His doom upon them, and in confusion they began to
explore any place of safety throughout the
lands. But they did not find anywhere any such place of escape. Accordingly,
they were ruined. If those stupid people had bowed their heads before Allaah
Almighty, they would not have been tormented so severely as well as they would
have been saved from afflictions of the Day of Resurrection also. There is a
reminder in these commandments for them who think and listen carefully. Those
will repent who will not heed and believe.
