Reproducing the dead to life (L-104)

Reproducing the dead to life (L-104)

72.  Wa  ‘iz  qataltum nafsan-faddaara’-tum  fiihaa.  Wallaahu mukhrijum-maa  kuntum  tak-tumuun.

73.  Faqul-Nazribuuhu  bi-ba’-zi-haa.  Kazaalika    yuh-Yillaahul-mawtaa, wa Yuriikum  ‘Aayaati-Hii  la-‘allakum  ta’qiluun.

72.  And (remember) when you slew a man and disagreed concerning it and Allah brought forth that which you were hiding.

73.  So We said: Smite him with some of it. Thus Allah brings the dead to life and shows you His portents so that you may understand.

Faddaara’-tum – (then you disagreed, accused/charged one another). This word has been derived from dara-‘a, which also means “to dispute, to quarrel as well as to off, to evade, to practise delay”. Here it aims “to quarrel with and accuse one another”.

Summary of the previous verses has been stated in these verses. As we have discussed formerly that a person from the Children of Israel was killed but the killer was not traceable because the doubtful people had begun to charge/accuse one another.

God Almighty commanded the Children of Israel that they should sacrifice a cow for knowing the name of the killer. They evaded. When after making many tricks and excuses, they were prepared to sacrifice the cow, then Allaah Almighty commanded them to smite the dead body with a piece of meat of that cow. As soon as, the piece of meat was smitten to the killed, he returned to life and told the name and address of his killer. So a great problem was solved by obeying the commandments of God Almighty. The killed person expired again after telling about his murderer.

Allaah Almighty taught the people also, “It is Omnipotence of Me to bring the dead to life again”. As the killed person told about his first life’s incidents after getting life again, like him, the entire human beings will be brought to life again on the Day of Resurrection. Then every individual will give evidence against himself about his own deeds.

These instructions and happenings are being described by Allaah Almighty to the entire mankind, so that they should think about them and correct their lives. We should learn from the happenings and incidents of previous nations, and get it as warning for us.

Objections in God’s Commandments (L-103)

Objections in God’s Commandments (L-103)

70.  Qaalud-‘u  lanaa Rabbaka yubayyil-lanaa maa  hiya.  ‘In-nal-baqara tashaabaha ‘alayna.  Wa  ‘innaaa  ‘in-shaaa-‘Allaahu  la-muhtaduun.

71.  Qaala  ‘innaHuu yaquulu ‘innahaa  baqaratul-laa- zaluu-lun-tusiirul-‘arza  wa laa   tasqil-hars.  Musallama-tul-laa shiyata  fiihaa.  Qaalul-‘aana ji’-ta  bil-haqq.   Fazabahuuhaa wa maa kaaduu yaf-‘aluun. (Section 8)

70.  They said: Pray for us unto your Lord that He make clear to us what (cow) she is. Lo! Cows are much alike to us. And Lo! If Allah wills, we may be led aright.

71.  (Moses) answered: Lo! He   says: Verily she is a cow unyoked; she ploughed not the soil nor watered the till; whole and without mark. They said: Now you bring the truth. So they sacrificed her, though they had not the mind to do (it).

With effect from previous verses, this story has been running continuously that the Children of Israel were given a simple order that they should sacrifice a cow, but they began to controvert in it differently. Allaah Almighty replied their every question and described that the cow should neither be mother of any calf, nor immature, and its color must be yellow; bright, which should gladden to the beholders.

After knowing everything, they asked again, “we have not understood so far, we have some doubt in knowing about the cow”. Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) said! “Verily she is a cow unyoked; she ploughs not the soil, nor waters the till; whole and without mark”.

Then they said, “Yes! Now you have told us the right”. In short, after many arguments; they sacrificed the cow. Even then, it was being felt from their behavior that they had not mind to do so. As though, even then they obeyed the commandment of God Almighty unavoidably.

Concept of the Hereafter (L-77)

Concept of the Hereafter (L-77)

46.  ‘Allaziina yazun-nuuna ‘annahum-mulaaquu Rabbi  him  wa ‘annahum ‘ilayHi   raaji-‘uun.  (Section 5)

46.  Who know that they will have to meet their Lord, and that unto Him they are returning.

Yazun-nuuna – (they think and know, they presume). This word is from zan, which means – doubt and faith (both). Signs of God-fearing people (Khaashi-‘iin) have been described in this verse; who were mentioned in the previous verse. Moreover, this verse indicates towards acquiring the attribute, which has a specific degree in Faith. If someone does not have humility in his heart, then he should think that he would have to confront his Lord in his every deed, motion and comfort. Without His help, he can do nothing. His Lord is with him every time. He knows his every condition, listens to his voice and observes his every movement. As his thought will become matured gradually, his faith will increase. At last, prayer and worship will become easy for him and the virtue of patience will begin to appear into him.

For becoming good-natured and for guidance of others, there is no way without it. The other thing; by which; prayer and worship becomes easy, that is Belief in the Day of Resurrection, where everyone will be rewarded or punished (the future reward of virtues or torture, doom and anguish due to wicked deeds) according to one’s own deeds, which he performed or committed during his worldly life. When the thought will become matured, then there will two good manners be produced, from which the faith will become matured:

•        Fear of the Wrath of God Almighty.

•        Hope of His Mercy.

Result of the maturity of Belief will be humility, and due to humility, offering prayer will become easy, and it will produce patience, which is foundation of all good manners.

This small Section of Holy Qur’an is an abstract of all real teachings. How beautifully the Children of Israel are being invited towards the religion Islam and along with it; the Believers of Islam are being taught about the principles of Islam. Islam has proved by means of these types of commandments that its principles are natural. Opposing them is actually opposing the humanity. Islam has come to purify its ancient form from all kinds of evil, which is common in Jewish, Christianity and other religions of the world. The Jews claim that they are religious and scholars, so; it is their duty that they should recognize and understand Islam, because it is the last form of that religion, which was held in actual Torah, Psalms and Gospel {old and new Testaments (the Bible)} and all worldly Heavenly Scriptures.

He plucks out the teeth of dog and barks himself (L-75)

He plucks out the teeth of dog and barks himself (L-75)

44.  ‘Ata’-muruunan-naasa bil-birri  wa  tansawna ‘anfusakum  wa  ‘antum  tatluunal-Kitaab. ‘Afalaa  ta’-qiluun.

44.  Enjoin you righteousness upon mankind while you yourselves forget (to practice it)? And you are readers of the Scripture! Have you then no sense?

‘Al-birri – meanings of this word are goodness and favor. Politeness, worship with full sincerity, good manners and kindness; all these things are included in it. Opposite to this word are errors, evils and sins.

‘Al-Kitaab – here ‘al-Kitaab means “Torah”, in which all commandments for the Jews regarding good deeds, adoration and religious matters were narrated.

When the days for destruction of any nation come, then among them, greedy for wealth, easygoing scholars and leaders grow, who apparently; preach the people every time to correct their habits, sympathize with other people with truth and faith at the time of negotiation, tell not a lie, deceive not any person, offer prayers, keep fasting and serve the people. But the preachers do not act upon their preaching themselves. Except comfort and pleasure of this world, they have no concern with anything. They wish only the influence of their preaching over others, so that they may get maximum rewards, tributes and offering at the name of alms; so that they may get maximum chances to be addicted to pleasure.

This badness was grown in the scholars of the Children of Israel. They were seekers only of worldly wealth and property, respect and celebrity. If they had intention to make the people good-natured by their influence, then it would be certainly praise-worthy, but making others good without it that they should make good at first themselves, cannot be so. And from it they were at a long distance.

In this verse, the scholars are being ashamed in these words, “what are you going to do this? You guide the people to be good and pious by your tongues every time, whereas personally you are far away from the Truth. Do you desire only that the people should accept you as their leader and spiritual guide; and serve you always? Alas! You read Torah and still you are convinced of showiness and indolent from correction of yourselves. It is the first demand of the wisdom that a person should show himself as example for others in the truth. Against the facts, you are guilty of deceiving the people. If you are sincere in advising the people, at first, you must act also yourselves according to your sayings.”

It could not be proved more useful to admonish and frighten the Jews; however, there is a hidden advice for the scholars; who believe that Holy Qur’an is a true Book, i.e. “They should arrange to correct themselves before correcting others, because becoming a hypocrite, treacherous, in-sincere and cheat is forerunner of destruction and ruin of the nation.

A trifling price of God’s Revelations (L-72)

A trifling price of God’s Revelations (L-72)

41b.  Wa  laa tash-taruu  bi-‘AayaaTii samanan  qaliilaa;  wa ‘iyyaaya  fattaquun.

41b.  and part not with My Revelations for a trifling price, and keep your duty unto Me.

Samanan qaliilaa- (a trifling price), it means that you should not become desirous of wealth; by giving up the Right. The world is a contemptible and undervalued thing comparing to the Right and the Truth, whether it seems apparently very great thing because it is temporary and frail.

Wa ‘iyyaaya fattaquun – (and keep your duty unto Me). Ittiqaa means “to save oneself from the badness (evils)”. Here it aims “the fear of God’s wrath must be cause of avoiding the badness”, as though, the individual, who has fear of Allaah in his heart, can save himself from the act of badness”.

Which soft behavior has been adopted by Holy Qur’an with the Jews and fairly invited them towards Islam; that is also a proof about Holy Qur’an that it is the Word of God Almighty. The ways of disclosing the events and method of addressing; shows full respect of the Jews. Nothing is narrated like that, which may provoke them. It is the miracle of Holy Qur’an which created proper environment for declaration of the Truth. If we, the Muslims follow at least some of it, then the entire fears of the world would be finished.

The behavior; which the Jews adopted with Islam, its foundation seems nothing but stubbornness and misunderstanding. The aim from selling the Revelations of God is that “the Jewish Scholars used to change the Commands of God (Torah) for casual benefits of this world, issued self invented religious decrees for some money, and hid the Orders of God and committed them inter-mixed for hiding their own badness. Whenever scholars of any nation indulge in such types of defects, then it is difficult for that nation to save itself from destruction.

In this lesson, Allaah Almighty caused much to understand about the good conduct. The life in this world and its benefits are for a few days. Due to this reason, He admonishes to the Jews that they should not take decisions by changing His Orders for the sake of contemptible rewards, because the reward of telling correctly about My Commandments is better for the both worlds (this life and on the Day of Resurrection) than these casual advantages and some compensations.

God’s favors for the Children of Israel (L-70)

God’s favors for the Children of Israel (L-70)

40b.  ‘Az-kuruu  ni’-matiyallatiii   ‘an-‘amTu-‘alaykum  wa    ‘awfuu  ‘bi-‘AhDiii  ‘Uufi   bi-‘Ahdikum. Wa  ‘iyyaa-ya  farhabuun.

40b.  remember  My favour wherewith I favoured you, and fulfill your (part of the) covenant, I shall fulfill My (part of the) covenant, and fear Me.

Baniii-‘Israaa-‘Iil  – (the Children of Israel), Israel was the surname of Prophet Jacob (Peace be upon him), who was son of Prophet Isaac (Peace be upon him) and grandson of Prophet Abraham (Peace be upon him). This word is of Hebrew language. And it means “the servant of God. These people are also called “the Jews”.

Ni’-matii - (My favor), it aims those favors and blessings of Allaah Almighty, which He had bestowed on the Jews, for example; He caused them to set free from the torment of the slavery, drowned their enemy pharaoh, made their way to cross the Red Sea, provided them food in the desert like “Mann-o- Salwaa” the delicious food without any hard work and labor, and helped them Unseen in calamities etc.

‘Ahdiii  - My (part of the) covenant.  Covenant is a promise between two parties. Here covenant means the promise which servants (human beings) made with their Creator (Allaah) before coming in this world. As, Allaah Almighty bestowed wisdom and sense to mankind, granted power to think about Signs of His Omnipotence and then human beings accepted responsibility that they will recognize their Creator, will believe in the Prophets (Peace be upon them) sent by God Almighty and will follow the Guidance of Allaah Almighty. In return, Allaah Almighty promised that the believers will be sent to the Paradise.

Farhabuun – {you should (fear Me) observe your duty}, it means that you must not fear any other than Allaah Almighty.

Allaah Almighty promised with Adam (Peace be upon him) after his birth and sending him on the earth that He will send his Prophets (Peace be upon them) for the guidance of his children according to the occasions and will convey His Own Commandments and Instructions by means of them (Peace be upon them) to His servants. Prophets (peace be upon them) came according to this covenant. Messenger Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) was sent as the last Messenger of Allaah. The religion, which was bestowed to him, is a universal religion. So, the series of the teachings of the Religion - Islam begin from this Section.

The Jews were aware of the religion of God Almighty. Therefore they are being addressed particularly first of all. And they are being reminded that: your ancestors have seen the blessings of God’s religion and you know about it very well. Now you should believe in this last Prophet (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam), so that you may deserve the same blessings again. If you will do so, then it will be considered that you have fulfilled your covenant and in return, Allaah will fulfill His covenant: Your sins will be forgiven and you will be bestowed with success in this world and on the Day of Resurrection.

Consequence of those who denied Revelations (L-68)

Consequence of those who denied Revelations (L-68)

39.  Wallaziina  kafaruu  wa Kazzabuu  bi-‘AayaatiNaaa  ‘ulaaa-‘ika   ‘As-haabun-Naar.  Hum  fiihaa   Khaaliduun. (Section 4)

39.  But they who disbelieve, and   deny Our Revelations, such are rightful owners of the Fire. They will abide therein for ever.

‘As-haabun-Naar – (rightful owners of the Fire), as though, the people who falsify and deny the Divine Law of the Religion, they have made their relationship with the Hell. Their abode will be the Fire of the Hell.

When Adam and Eve (peace be upon them) came in this world, Allaah Almighty taught them rules of residing here and way of returning to the Paradise again. That is to say; God Almighty will send His Messages towards them as and when He will feel necessary, which will be main source of their Guidance. He will arrange for sending Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon them) for Guidance of their children also. Any mankind cannot find the Straight Path by his sense and wisdom only. It is important for him to incline towards God Almighty, Who is Creator of his nature. The people, who will admit His Guidance wholeheartedly, meditate in His sent Revelations and act upon His commands strictly, will get salvation from all kinds of pain, sorrow and grief, and after their present lives, they will enter the Paradise, where they will find all types of comfort and rest for ever. However, those people who will deny His Guidance, who will disobey His commands, they will go astray for ever due to their contraband conscientious objections. They will be thrown into the Hell after death, where they will become fuel of the Fire and will be entangled in different kinds of doom.

It is considerable from this discussion that the people who turn their faces from the Guidance of God Almighty; their end is very frightful. And those who obey His Command and follow His Guidance, their End is very fine. We should pray from God Almighty for penitence of the entire previous sins, beg from Him for forgiveness, and act upon the Guidance (Holy Qur’an and Sayings of the Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam).

Let us join the Group of those people who act upon the Guidance of Allaah Almighty and become successors of the Garden. Now there is only one form that we should admit the teachings of the Last Messenger of God Almighty (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) wholeheartedly, act upon it honestly with the faith that these are the last teachings, this Prophet (Muhammad) is the last Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) and that, after him no Prophet or Messenger will come in this world.

Falling down from the Garden (L-65)

Falling down from the Garden (L-65)

36b.  Wa  qulNah-bituu  ba’-zukum  li-ba’zin  ‘aduww.  Wa  lakum fil  ‘arzi  musta-qar-runw- wa  mataa-‘un  ‘ilaahiin.

36b.  and We said: Fall down, one of you a foe unto the other! There shall be for you on earth a habitation and provision for a time.

‘Ih-bituu – (fall down!). Origin of this word is habuut, which is used for lowering from height, and for going from one place to another. It manifests from this verse that the Paradise, where Adam and his wife (peace be upon them) were commanded to live; now they are being commanded to leave that place. Secondly, from the word ‘ih-bituu {fall down (you all)}, which has come in plural form, it is revealed that the command of lodging at the earth is not only for Adam and his wife (peace be upon them) but for their entire generation.

‘Aduwwun – (Enemies, foe, rival), the pattern of living on the earth has been caused to understand by this word. In the world, there will be possibility of struggle, jealousy, selfishness, sensuality and envy etc., and escaping from these evils will be the sign of nobleness for the human beings.

‘Ilaa- hiin – (For a time, till the specific time), it is obvious from this verse that stay of mankind on this earth is accidental and not forever. They will have to be produced in the Court of God Almighty again.

When Adam and his wife (peace be upon them) ate the fruit of that particular tree due to seducing by Satan, which was forbidden by Allaah Almighty, then He ordered: This place is not suitable for you now. Fall down on the earth. In the world, some people of the mankind will not live in peace and truce, but they will quarrel with one another. They will have to reside there till their death. During their life time, they will have to reap advantage from the earthen commodities by working hard and collecting the things for drinking and eating.

Useful matters which have been described in this verse are:

  • Satan is enemy of the mankind. He tries his best to cheat and deceive the mankind.
  • Existence of mankind in the world is casual and temporary. Its reality is like an Inn. Therefore, we should consider the world as abode for some time; and we should not forget our Lord, God Almighty; supposing that the world is a living place forever. Bear in mind that it is not an eternal abode.

Forbidden Tree (L-63)

Forbidden Tree (L-63)

35b.  wa  laa taqrabaa  haazihish-shajarata  fata-kuunaa  minaz-zaalimiin.

35b.  but come not nigh this tree lest you become wrongdoers.

Laa taqrabaa - come not nigh (near). Adam (peace be upon him) was prevented from going near a tree of Paradise for the purpose that he should not desire the fruit of that tree. Actual object of this command was that he (peace be upon him) should not eat the fruit of that particular tree, which was forbidden at that time for them.

Haazihish-shajarata – ‘this tree’ was a tree from the trees of Paradise and Adam (peace be upon him) was caused to know about that tree. In Holy Qur’an there is no explanation about it, however the commentators have different views about that particular tree. Some of them say that it was the tree of grapes and some say that it was plant of wheat; some have their separate views as dates or fig. It has not been explained in the Sayings of the Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam).

Minaz-zaalimiin – (from the wrongdoers), it aims such people, who oppress themselves. Disobeying the commands of God Almighty is actually the biggest tyranny on oneself. Now it is obvious that, at that time, means of Paradise was not as the reward of good deeds, as now it has. But at that time, there were Religious Laws also. Some orders were for obeying them and some such actions did exist, from which mankind was prevented.

Allaah Almighty kept Adam (peace be upon him) in Jannah after appointing him His Caliph. And when he (peace be upon him) felt loneliness, then Allaah Almighty created Eve (peace be upon her). He favored them further that He permitted them to eat freely from where they wish. However, there was a tree, about which God Almighty commanded: Come not nigh this tree lest you become wrongdoers.

It has been cleared from this lesson that the individual, who commits the works of doubts and suspicions, there is a great risk for him regarding committing wrong works. It was the reason that God Almighty forbade Adam (peace be upon him) from touching that forbidden tree, so that neither they will go nigh the tree and nor will they desire to eat it. We also must abstain from the doubtful and suspicious things. It should also be remembered that the person, who disobeys the commands of God Almighty, he actually harms himself at his own. As one is placed in difficulties in this world, he will suffer in the next world too i.e. on the Day of Resurrection.

Competition among Adam and Angels (L-59)

Competition among Adam and Angels (L-59)

31b.  summa  ‘arazahum  ‘alal-malaaa-‘ikati  faqaala  ‘ambi-‘uuNii  bi-‘as-maaa-‘i  haaa-‘u-laaa-‘i  ‘in- kuntum saadiqiin.

32.  Qaaluu –SubhaanaKa laa  ‘ilma  lanaaa  ‘illaa  maa ‘allamTanaa.  ‘InnaKa  ‘Antal-‘Aliimul-Hakiim.

31b.  then showed them to the angels, saying: Inform Me of the names of these, if you are truthful.

32.  They said: Be glorified! We have no knowledge saving that which You have taught us. Lo! You, only You, are the Knower, the Wise.

As, it has been discussed earlier that “the Angels (peace be upon them) know only, concerning which; they have been given knowledge”. They; neither know about those things which they do not need, and nor can try to know about them.

So, after teaching the names of all things to Adam (Peace be upon him), Allaah Almighty produced those things before the Angels (peace be upon them), and commanded to them, “If you are true in your claim that you hymn praise of Mine and sanctify Me perfectly then; tell Me the names of these things”.

The Angels (peace be upon them) are a sacred creature. They do not have any other work to do save worship of Allaah Almighty. How could they tell their names? They said, “We have only that knowledge, which You have taught us. Besides that, we know nothing. Now! These things, we can say only that there is any philosophy and advantage in producing them but we don’t know about its philosophy and secrecy, because Your works are not but full with Your philosophy.

It is obvious from these verses that due to knowledge, the mankind became superior and higher in rank to the Angels (peace be upon them). Now if someone from the generation of Adam (peace be upon him) is careless from the knowledge; he cannot perform as the duty of God’s Caliph. We observe that those nations, who acquired knowledge, are really on the path of development.

Answer to the Angels (L-57)

Answer to the Angels (L-57)

30c.  Qaala  ’InNiii ‘A’-lamu  maa  laa  ta’-lamuun”.

30c.  He said: Surely I know that which you know not.

When Allaah (God) Almighty proclaimed before His Light Beings (Angels) (peace be upon them): I wish to appoint My vicegerent in the earth. The Angels (peace be upon them) established a conception thoughtfully about the Caliph and considered that; which are being created from such different things (clay, water, fire and air), when they will come in the world, essentially they will spread disturbance, unrest and quarrel with one another. They will shed blood of their brothers and rob. It was one side of the life of mankind, which was presented by the Angels (peace be upon them). That is to say; such side which was dark; and in which, only evil was seen.

Before the Angels (peace be upon them), it was a side of that person; who was going to become Caliph. But which qualities were hidden into the human being, they did not know about them, for example; new ideas and inventions, development in different fields of life as his reach from the depth of oceans to the heights of the skies, development in different departments of the science i.e. physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, computers, airplanes, vehicles, construction technology, petrochemical, ships, his journey towards different planets, electromechanical, agricultural, industrial field, his control over the clouds and rains, his control over the birth, vegetation etc. Therefore, they produced one side of the picture according to their guess, and along with it they presented that side, in accord with which, they were going on. In it, corroboration and obedience in every matter and command of Allaah Almighty was included. The Angels furnished this request; not as an objection but respectfully.

Both sides of the life of His Caliph did exist before Allaah Almighty. That is to say; He was Aware of His caliph’s present position as well as about the forthcoming changes into him with the passage of time. He was acquainted that His Caliph will bring changes in the entire world by his knowledge and wisdom.

So, God Almighty answered on the request of the Angels (Peace be upon them), “I know that which you do not know”. It aims that you don’t know about how much advisability and philosophy are hidden in creation of My Viceroy.

Wa  ‘iz  qaala  Rabbuka lil-Malaaa-‘ikati – “InNii jaa-‘ilun fil-‘arzi  KHALIIFAH– its translation and a short explanation has been described in the previous lesson. Now we have to discuss: What is meaning of Caliphate, and how the mankind is vicegerent of Allaah Almighty?

God Almighty is The Creator and Owner of this world. He owns all good attributes. Neither we can count His attributes and nor His works. He has placed some qualities little by little from His attributes in the clay of human being, so that he may demonstrate His attributes after coming in the world, elevate His name and prove by his word and deed that he is really Viceroy and Deputy of God Almighty.

If God is Merciful then the human being must be kind too, not only upon his kinsfolk but also over the entire living creatures. It has come in the Sayings of Allaah’s Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam): If you slaughter any animal, have mercy upon it, the slaughtering knife should be sharp-edged, so that the animals’ great artery may cut off immediately and it does not feel much pain later on.

One of the attributes of God is Justice and Equity. It is the duty of human being that he should do justice and equity, equally with all. In this matter, neither he should favor his close relatives and nor the stranger be ignored. Entire people must be dealt with equally.

One name of God is For-Bearer (Mild) also. The mankind disobeys Him and commits countless errors but God bestows respite, takes it with softness, overlooks it and gives time to the evildoer, so that he should repent and change his attitude. It is also our duty that we should produce the attribute of mildness in ourselves. We should treat the people with soft behavior and give them chance if they have wronged, so that they may correct themselves.

In short, the human being should try to grow all those attributes and manners within himself, which are Disposition of God and treat the people as God treats His servants.

If we do not produce God’s attributes in ourselves then we do not deserve to be the Caliph and Vicegerent of God Almighty, and we can never achieve this higher grade any way, which He has liked for us.

Review of Section Three, Chapter 2 (L-53)

Review of Section Three (L-53)

After describing the circumstances of Disbelievers and Hypocrites in previous two Sections, the third Section was begun with effect from the topic that it is necessary for the human being that he must fall prostrate before Allaah (God) Almighty courteously by disclosing his humility and obey His Commandments, so that he may be bestowed with blessings of life in both Worlds. It is the first demand of Allaah Almighty from the mankind.

Then, it is commanded that one should draw his full attention unto Holy Qur’an for knowing His Commandments, equal to which, there is neither any other book or scripture and nor can be. For causing this reality to understand, He asked a very simple question surprisingly: How can you deny Allaah Almighty, while you have no authority of producing and killing yourselves or any other living creature?

Concerning the Truth of the Word of God Almighty, this simple reason has been presented that if someone is doubtful that it is not the Word of Allaah Almighty, but written by any mankind, then he should show by bringing ten Chapters like This, if not ten; then bring three, if not three then bring only one Chapter like this Word. If you cannot do so alone, then call and include your other companions, scholars and writers for your help in this matter and try your best.

The Section comes to an end at this point that O people: All things on the earth have been created for you only. And the heavens have been created for the purpose that you may reap advantage by means of sun, moon, stars and rains. Therefore you must recognize your dignity and perform such works; which are befitting for you.

If we understand this verse and cause it to impress on the minds of the nations of the world, then it will be greatest service of the humanity. If the Idolaters and the Disbelievers may understand this fact that the earth, the sky and the entire universe have been created for the mankind, then, how it is possible that master of all these things and prominent from the entire universe, mankind, may prostrate before those things which are most inferior to him; instead of own original Lord, God Almighty, Allaah; The Most High.

Which Section will begin after this, particularly it has been explained in that; What is the rank of the human being, and how can he dwell a successful life in the world, so that the mankind may guess correctly about his greatness and dignity, and he should not commit any such work, due to which he fall down from his higher dignity.

Guidance and going astray (L–49)

Guidance and going astray (L–49)

26c.  Yuzillu  bihii  kasiiranw-, wa  Yahdii  bihii  kasiiraa.  Wa  maa  yu-zillu  bihiii  ‘illal-Faasi-qiin.

26c.  He misleads many thereby, and He guides many thereby. And He misleads thereby only miscreants.

Faasi-qiina – (the miscreants), this word is plural of Faasiq, which has been derived from the word fisq, which means “transgression”.  According to the Divine Law, those who refrain from Obedience of God Almighty and indulge in evil deeds are miscreants.

Allaah (God) Almighty described various sorts of resemblances for causing the people to understand. Some of them meditate into them and after learning, they find Guidance. But some people argue rudely and go astray. Those who found Guidance, they are Believers; who use their powers of thinking and beholding correctly.

There are many ways to reach the destination in the world but from these all, there is only one way which can be straight. Allaah Almighty bestowed sense and wisdom to the mankind. Not only this, but He sent Messages by means of His Messengers (Peace be upon them) for the Path of Guidance. After that, the mankind is entitled to choose a way which he wants. Now, if any person reaps advantage of choice and chooses a wrong path, he falls in evil. And when he adopts evil himself, then other accessories of that way are provided. As putting the hand into the fire, it gets burnt, like this; when a person adopts a wrong path; then evils and harms of that path increase gradually.

According to this verse, due to likenesses of Allaah Almighty, many people go astray because of their reasoning absurdly and arguments. They don’t think about the purpose of these examples, but waste their powers of thinking on criticizing against it. Faasiqiin (the miscreants) are they who run behind their evil desires and are not ready to hear any such conversation easily; which may prevent them from their bad habits.

At the end of the verse, God Almighty has manifested it more clearly that the straying includes only them; who wish to go astray. Allaah Almighty does not attach the depravity upon anyone, but his heart is disgusted due to continuous intentional disobedience. And the quest of the truth and seeking the Right does not remain more. Absurd and a lie make room in the heart, as though, the deviation is consequence of their continuous disobedience, being miscreant and evildoer.

Influence and consequence of Similitudes (L–48)

Influence and consequence of Similitudes (L–48)

26b.  Fa-‘ammallaziina ‘aamanuu fa-ya’-lamuuna ‘annahul-Haqqu mir-Rabbihim. Wa ‘ammal-laziina kafaruu fayaquuluuna maazaaa-’araa-dAllaahu bihaa-zaa masa-laa.

26b.  Those who believe know that it is the truth from their Lord; and those who disbelieve say: What does Allah wish (to teach) by such a similitude?

For causing the people to understand, Allaah Almighty describes by giving similitude. The aim of these examples is that the people should understand the Commandments of God Almighty clearly, not that they should begin absurd reasoning and opposing.

It has been explained in this lesson that the Believers take this example as true and proper explainer and consider it right from God. But the Infidels begin to deride on these examples and they ask as satire that what God Almighty means by giving these kinds of resemblances?

The Believers have full faith in it that Allaah Almighty is Worshipped and Muhammad (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) is His True Messenger. They consider that their first duty is to obey the Commands of God Almighty and His Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam), and act upon them. They believe in Their Sayings with true heart. Therefore, if God Almighty mentions any similitude, they try to understand its true object. They don’t care that the similitude is of what sort itself? Whether is it customary or have some importance? Whether any superior thing has been described in it or inferior? Moreover, they think about its true purpose and learn from it.

The Infidels deny Allaah Almighty and disbelieve in His Prophet (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam). They don’t have any interest in finding the Just. They just keep watching the secrets in the verses; either to find out faults or criticize unnecessarily. So, when Allaah Almighty describes any likeness for their consideration, then in spite of trying to understand its true meanings, they begin to raise unreasonable questions regarding it and ask from the Believers as satire: What does God desire by giving such kind of similitude?

In this verse, there is a lesson that the Believers and the people who have good moral character are those; who think about the similitude; explained by Allaah Almighty, try to understand it and give up irregular debate.
