Responsibility Of The Prophet

 

Responsibility of the Messenger (L-145)

إِنّا أَرسَلناكَ بِالحَقِّ بَشيرًا وَنَذيرًا ۖ وَلا تُسأَلُ عَن أَصحابِ الجَحيمِ119.

119.  ‘InNaaa ‘arsalNaaka bil-haqqi   bashiiranw-wa naziiranw,-wa laa tus-‘alu ‘an ‘As-haabil-Jahiim.

119.  We have sent you with the truth—bringing good news, and giving warnings. You will not be questioned about the inmates of Hell.

Bil-haqqi – (with the truth), it aims: We (God Almighty) have sent You {O Muhammad

(ﷺ) to Guide the human beings with the Truth. It also means that ‘You speak the truth always, produce clear proofs and bright arguments for the Right.

Bashiirun – (a bringer of glad-tidings), that is to say; Muhammad (ﷺ) is a bringer of glad-tidings of happiness and betterment (in this world and the Day of Resurrection as retribution of good deeds) for the people, who believe and follow the Commandments and Instructions of God and His Messenger.

Naziirun – (The Warner), The Messenger (ﷺ) warns them who disbelieve, deny, commit sins and violate, from bad results of evil-deeds, and frighten them from punishment during their present life and the Day of Resurrection. These two characteristics of the Last Messenger (ﷺ) are very important.

The Infidels and the Idolaters had doubts in Prophet-hood of Muhammad (ﷺ) and the Truth of Holy Qur’an, and they used to argue, “If God can talk with a Messenger (ﷺ) then why does He not talk with us whereas we are also mankind? Or why does He not bestow to Muhammad (ﷺ) a great miracle; due to which the Prophet-hood and the Truth may be proved naturally?”

Replying to their argument, God commanded: Do you ask for one miracle? We have bestowed many miracles to Our Messenger (ﷺ), but only those people will believe in him (ﷺ) who are truly seekers of the Truth wholeheartedly and have belief in the Truth. Those people will not believe whose perspective is only to criticize and produce doubts.

God has commanded in this verse to His Messenger (ﷺ): We have sent you with the True Religion. The people, who follow you, are Believers. For them, you are Bringer of glad-tidings for their good works. However, those, who will not follow you, they are Infidels; they will be thrown into the Fire of the Hell. You are Warner for them for their bad consequence. Messenger’s duty is only to convey the Message of God. He (ﷺ) is not responsible of making the Infidels and Idolaters Muslims.

Evident Proofs

 

The Clear Proofs (L-144) 

وَقالَ الَّذينَ لا يَعلَمونَ لَولا يُكَلِّمُنَا اللَّهُ أَو تَأتينا آيَةٌ ۗ كَذٰلِكَ قالَ الَّذينَ مِن قَبلِهِم مِثلَ قَولِهِم ۘ تَشابَهَت قُلوبُهُم ۗ قَد بَيَّنَّا الآياتِ لِقَومٍ يوقِنونَ118.

118.  Wa qaalal-laziina laa ya’-lamuuna law-laa  yukallimu-nAllaahu ‘aw ta’-tiinaaa  ‘Aa-yah. Kazaalika qaalal-laziina min-qablihim – misla  qawlihim.  Tashaabahat quluubuhum. Qad bayyaNNal-‘aayaati  li-qawminy-yuuqinuun.

118.  Those who do not know say, “If only God would speak to us, or a sign would come to us.” Thus said those who were before them. Their hearts are alike. We have made the signs clear for people who are certain.

 Infidels and idolaters of Makkah claimed from the Last Messenger of God, Muhammad (ﷺ): If God talks to the Prophets and the Messengers (Peace be upon them) then; why does He not talk to us directly. Or why does He not send any strange token (miracle) for support and authentication of the Last Prophet (ﷺ), so that we should admit automatically the truth of Prophet (ﷺ) by looking it.

God commands, “The people before them said like these things too. Standard of sense (spiritual and moral) of those people was very low and of these people is also very low. Since hearts of the both are the same in having not prudence and gratefulness”.   

Replying them for these commands, God says, “You have demanded just one miracle, I already have sent many clear miracles, for instance; the truth, the trust, the honesty and the wisdom of the Last Messenger (ﷺ), there is No example of Holy Qur’an from any aspect. You are Helpless in replying to it, the Journey of the Last Prophet of God (ﷺ) for Ascension (Me’-raaj) and change of the Moon in two pieces are before you”.

Be! And It Is

 

God commands: Be! And it is. (L-143)

بَديعُ السَّماواتِ وَالأَرضِ ۖ وَإِذا قَضىٰ أَمرًا فَإِنَّما يَقولُ لَهُ كُن فَيَكونُ117.

117.  Badii-‘us-samaa-waati  wal-‘arz.  Wa  ‘izaa qazaaa ‘amran- fa- ‘innamaa Yaquulu lahuu  “KUN”  fayakuun.

117.  The Originator of the heavens and the earth! And when He decrees a thing, He says unto it only: Be! And it is.

Badii-‘un – (The Originator - without matter and model or sample). This word has been derived from the word bada’. The word abdaa’a has also come out from it. It means “to make anything without matter and without looking any sample/model”. Badii’ means “an Inventor, Artificer, Artist and Artisan, Who is really and truly Originator and Inventor, Who does neither need any tool or instrument, nor any material or ingredients, nor He is Indigent of model and nor any Instructor/teacher. He may originate/invent everything, whether it has its body or sample earlier or not. He may create, originate or invent anything, anytime and anywhere. He is The Creator of the entire universe, earth and skies.

False faiths and beliefs of the Idolater and Infidel nations have been rejected in this verse. They imagined that the matter was already in existence prior to becoming it in any form. Only God Almighty originated the universe after forming it in an order.

By telling His attribute Badii, Allaah Almighty has commanded here that only His Existence is ancient, eternal and infinite. He has invented all the existing, of whose, there did no pattern already exist. He has given form to the disruption of heaven, earth and everything in the universe. For Him, it is very easy to create everything from the very beginning without any pattern and matter.

“KUN” fayakuun - (Be! And it is), to create and invent the universe, Allaah Almighty does not need any reason, cause, means, ground or support. Just His Command and Sign is enough. This verily reality has been explained in this short sentence.

It is known from this verse that only Allaah is The Ancient and Eternal. There was a time when only He was Living and nothing else did exist. Only He created everything with His Intention. Neither He has felt need of any partner nor helper. Only He is, Who gives new shapes/forms to all things. It is wrong faith of materialists that God Almighty is indigent of any one or He is needy of anyone else.

Allah Hath No Children Of Him

 

God has no children (L-142) 

وَقالُوا اتَّخَذَ اللَّهُ وَلَدًا ۗ سُبحانَهُ ۖ بَل لَهُ ما فِي السَّماواتِ وَالأَرضِ ۖ كُلٌّ لَهُ قانِتونَ116.

116.  Wa qaalutta  -khazAllaahu  waladan, SubhaanaH.  Bal-laHuu  maa fis-samaawaati  wal-‘arz.  Kullul-laHuu  qaanituun.

116.  And they say: Allah has taken unto Himself a son. Be He glorified! Nay, but whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth is His. All are subservient unto Him.

In the previous verse, it has been discussed that the perception of the Children of Israel and the Christians that Allaah Almighty likes a particular direction, is false, “so Allaah Almighty refuted it that: the mankind should turn to such particular direction for turning unto Him, and commanded that He is not bound in any side or boundary of any place of worship. But He is the Owner of the entire Universe and there are no limitations for Him, so you can turn your faces and bodies to any side for His worship. He will be attentive unto you.

‘Itta  -khaza – (has, have, make, catch, to choose, to elect, to fix upon, to assume, to adopt), translation of the entire words is taken as the same.

Qaanituun – (subservient, loyal, servant), Singular to this word is Qaanat, which means the person; who obeys the command, is obedient. The word Qanuut has been derived from it too. The Prayer of Witr is called “the Qanuut prayer” because it contains perfect obedience of Allaah Almighty in it.

The Christians had another wrong belief that God Almighty has adopted Jesus (peace be upon him) as His son (Let us flee to Allaah). This faith of theirs’ is the worst kind of plurality with God Almighty. He commands that He is Pure and Sacred from their all such types of false talks regarding the plurality. He has no child but He is One. He is Master of the entire Universe. All that is present in the earth and the skies; is obedient of His Order. His Sovereignty is everywhere. His relation with the creature is such as the entire universe, the Jinn and the Mankind are worshipers and obedient to Him (only one Worshipped). He is Lord and God of all. The entire things in the universe have bowed their heads before His Order. It is also the mankind’s excellence, if they bend their heads before Him and obey not anyone else except Him.

Muslim nation is Flag-holder of Oneness of God and she preaches the faith: The infidelity (i.e. ascribing plurality) to Allaah is the greatest sin. We should avoid from it and we must believe in the Oneness of God by our hearts.

Allah’s Countenance Is On Each Side

 

God’s Signs can be seen everywhere (L-141)

وَلِلَّهِ المَشرِقُ وَالمَغرِبُ ۚ فَأَينَما تُوَلّوا فَثَمَّ وَجهُ اللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ واسِعٌ عَليمٌ115.

115.  Wa  Lillaahil-Mashriqu wal-Magrib;  Fa-‘aynamaa tu-walluu fa-samma waj-Hullaah.   ‘InnAllaaha  Waasi-‘un ‘Aliim.

115.  Unto Allah belong the East and the West, and whithersoever you turn, there is Allah’s Countenance. Lo! Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knowing.

Waj-hu – literally it means “Face”. Its other meanings are body, person, kind, nature. So it aims that “to which side you will turn; God Almighty exists there”. Wherever you will go you will find Allaah there. The East and the West, the North and the South, all belong to Allaah Almighty.

During the times of Ignorance, the people had faith, “Allaah Almighty is also under the bondage of Time and Space, so we should turn our bodies towards that particular side”. They used to suppose such direction at their own, and after turning their faces to that side, they used to worship. In this matter, there was a dispute also among the Children of Israel and the Christians themselves. Every religious group had fixed a direction and they considered that such direction was better.

Holy Qur’an refuted this false belief of theirs and commanded that Allaah Almighty is neither limited in any enclosure of particular space of worship, nor He is imprisoned in any place or direction, but wherever He will be called with purity and sincerity He will be attentive. He does not belong particularly to any particular place, city or direction.

God Almighty likes neither only the East, and nor only the West but all the directions are of Him. He has already surrounded the entire Universe. He is unlimited. He exists everywhere. So by turning unto any place or side, when and where He will be called with sincerity, He shall be attentive. He knows very well that who calls Him with the true heart and who calls Him only to show others.

One reason of the Revelation regarding this verse is narrated as it that; because it is difficult for the traveler and the rider to know the direction of the Inviolable Place of Worship at Makkah, so for that time, it has been commanded that by turning on which direction you will worship, that will be accepted because God Almighty masterly exists in every direction and every place. Accordingly, this is the matter that; if you do not know the correct direction of the Inviolable Place of Worship at Makkah, you must offer prayer by turning unto such direction to which your heart witnesses. And if you are riding on any conveyance, and direction of conveyance changes, you should continue and complete your voluntary (Nafl) prayer.

The Persons Who Ruin The Mosques

 

Those who desolate the Places of worship (L-140)

وَمَن أَظلَمُ مِمَّن مَنَعَ مَساجِدَ اللَّهِ أَن يُذكَرَ فيهَا اسمُهُ وَسَعىٰ في خَرابِها ۚ أُولٰئِكَ ما كانَ لَهُم أَن يَدخُلوها إِلّا خائِفينَ ۚ لَهُم فِي الدُّنيا خِزيٌ وَلَهُم فِي الآخِرَةِ عَذابٌ عَظيمٌ114.

114.  Wa man  ‘azlamu mim-mam-mana-‘a masaajidAllaahi  ‘any-yuzkara fiihasmuHuu wa sa-‘aa fii kharaabihaa ‘Ulaaa-‘ika maa kaana lahum ‘any-yad-khuluuhaaa ‘illaa khaaa-‘i’fiin.  Lahum fid-dunyaa khiz-yunw-wa lahum fil-‘Aakhirati ‘azaabun ‘aziim.

114.  And who does greater wrong than he who forbids the approach to the mosques of Allah lest His name should be mentioned therein, and strives for their ruin? As for such, it was never meant that they should enter them except in fear. Theirs in the world is ignominy and theirs in the Hereafter is an awful doom.

Masaajid – (Mosques), it is plural of Masjid which means the place, where, prayers are offered, place of worship for Muslims. The word Masjid has been derived from the word Sajdah which means ‘to bow the body and place the forehead on the ground (to fall prostrate). According to sayings by one of the Scholars, it aims the Inviolable Place of Worship, the temple of Makkah (Masjid-‘ul-Haraam).

For clearness about the occasion of the revelation of this verse two happenings are narrated:

• The Christians waged a war against the Children of Israel, burnt the Holy Scripture Torah and ruined the Temple and Township of Jerusalem.

• The Infidels of Makkah prevented the Muslims from visiting the Inviolable Place of Worship at Makkah) during sixth Hijra at the Place of Hudaybiah only due to their envy.

The limit of religious envious and forming groups in the religion by the people of the Scripture had reached such stage that respect for places of worship concerning other groups was finished from their hearts. They did not hesitate in destroying such sacred places and used to prohibit the people of other groups from entering into their places of worship. Moreover, they all used to claim that they believed in One God.

The religious scholars told that as the places of worship are made habitable and populous with the prayers, so bad deeds and talks into them will be supposed as the destruction of the mosques. Besides this, all such things, which become cause of damage of the devout and ruin of the places of worship, are included in the order of this verse. Therefore, we should abstain from those things, due to which, gaiety of the mosques is lessened and the people stop coming in the mosques.

Allaah Almighty has commanded that it is compulsory for them while they enter the mosque, that their hearts should tremble due to fear of God but as they don’t stop their depravities, so, they will get disgraced ignominy in this world and also will suffer from awful Doom on the Day of Resurrection.

Forming Groups Into Religion

 

Forming separate religious groups (L-139)

وَقالَتِ اليَهودُ لَيسَتِ النَّصارىٰ عَلىٰ شَيءٍ وَقالَتِ النَّصارىٰ لَيسَتِ اليَهودُ عَلىٰ شَيءٍ وَهُم يَتلونَ الكِتابَ ۗ كَذٰلِكَ قالَ الَّذينَ لا يَعلَمونَ مِثلَ قَولِهِم ۚ فَاللَّهُ يَحكُمُ بَينَهُم يَومَ القِيامَةِ فيما كانوا فيهِ يَختَلِفونَ 113.

113.  Wa  qaalatil-Yahuudu laysatin-Nasaaraa  ‘alaa shay’;  wa qaalatin-Nasaaraa  laysatil-Yahuudu ‘alaa shay-inw, wa hum yatluunal-Kitaab.   Kazaa-lika qaalal-laziina laa ya’-la-muuna misla  qawlihim.   Fallaahu Yahkumu  baynahum Yawmal-Qiyaamati fii-maa kaanuu fiihi yakhtalifuun.

113.  And the Jews say the Christians follow nothing (true), and the Christians say the Jews follow nothing (true); yet both are readers of the Scripture. Even thus speak those who know not. Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that wherein they differ.

Laa ya’-la-muuna – (who know not, illiterate, uneducated, ignorant), here ‘ilm  means “knowledge about Heavenly Books”. It indicates that the persons, who do not have Knowledge, are Idolaters and followers of every that religion, which has no base on any Heavenly Scripture.

Baynahum – (between them), it aims “the two groups of them: one is of the Believers and the other is of the Idolaters and Infidels.

The entire people of the Scripture are involved in forming religious groups instead of following the real teachings and the truth, bestowed by Allaah Almighty. Every group from them claims that she is on the straight path and the other all groups have gone astray from the actual way, for instance; while the Children of Israel saw that the Christians call the Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) as son of God Almighty (I seek refuge in Allaah), then they began to say them Infidels. And when the Christians saw that the Children of Israel have become Disbelievers of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him), they began to say them Infidels, although, these both groups recite the Scripture bestowed by God Almighty.

The same condition is of those people who have not any Heavenly Scripture but they have created themselves such faiths that they consider themselves on the straight path and other all the religious groups have gone astray. Holy Qur’an commanded that forming of religious groups is totally useless. The real thing is to obey the Commands of Allaah Almighty and to do good works. That person will be on the straight path, who acts upon these two principles.

Who Deserves The Paradise

 

Who deserves the Paradise? (L-138)

وَقالوا لَن يَدخُلَ الجَنَّةَ إِلّا مَن كانَ هودًا أَو نَصارىٰ ۗ تِلكَ أَمانِيُّهُم ۗ قُل هاتوا بُرهانَكُم إِن كُنتُم صادِقينَ111.    بَلىٰ مَن أَسلَمَ وَجهَهُ لِلَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحسِنٌ فَلَهُ أَجرُهُ عِندَ رَبِّهِ وَلا خَوفٌ عَلَيهِم وَلا هُم يَحزَنونَ112.

111.   Wa qaaluu lany-yad-khu-lal-jannata  ’illaa man- kaana Huudan ‘aw Nasaaraa. Tilka ‘amaaniyyu-hum. Qul haatuu burhaanakum ‘in-kuntum saadiqiin.  112.   Balaa man  ‘aslama wajha-huu Lillaahi wa huwa muhsinun falahuuu ‘ajruhuu  ‘inda Rabbih; wa laa khawfun  ‘alayhim wa laa hum yahzanuun. (Section 13)

111.  And they say: None enters Paradise unless he be a Jew or a Christian. These are their own desires. Say: Bring your proof (of what you state) if you are truthful.   112.     Nay, but whosoever  surrenders his purpose to Allah while doing good, his reward is with his Lord; and there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.

 

 ‘Amaaniyyu-hum: (their desires), it is plural of ‘Amniah which means desire.

wajha-huu: (his own face), literal meaning of wajhi is face or mouth, but often in the sentence, it aims body or an individual. Here it indicates towards the same meanings.

The worst depravity of all the previous nations and ancient religious people is that they destroyed the truth; by making separate groups between themselves, which in fact, was just one and was bestowed to all equally. Now, every group falsifies the other and just imagines itself only the heir of the truth. The Children of Israel were involved in this depravity too and they thought that the truth was held only with them, only they would proceed to the Heaven. Holy Qur’an commanded: These are their self made stories and false desires. They should produce if they have any proof.

Now Holy Qur’an has been revealed, so that, the entire groups may be gathered on One Page (this common truth). Piety is only in becoming sincere to Allaah Almighty and doing good works. None of the groups can claim that she is true and other all are liars. God Almighty Commands that the individual, who will obey the Commands of Allaah Almighty and will choose the path of goodness, he will succeed. Doing so, neither he will have any grief of his previous life, nor any fear of any next happening. This satisfaction is the sign of the saints (servants) of God.

Store For The Doomsday

 

Provision of the Hereafter (L-137)

وَأَقيمُوا الصَّلاةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكاةَ ۚ وَما تُقَدِّموا لِأَنفُسِكُم مِن خَيرٍ تَجِدوهُ عِندَ اللَّهِ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِما تَعمَلونَ بَصيرٌ110.

110.  Wa  ‘aqiimus-Salaata  wa ‘aatuz-Zakaah.  Wa maa  tuqad-dimuu  li-‘anfusikum-min khay-rin- taji-duuhu  ‘indAllaah.  ‘In-nAllaaha bimaa ta’-maluuna  Basiir.

110.  And establish worship, and pay the poor-due. And whatever of good you send before (you) for your souls, you will find it with Allah. Lo! Allah is Seer of what you do.

As we discussed earlier that main cause of accepting not the religion Islam by the Children of Israel was their envy. They were burning that why the prophet-hood has been bestowed to the Children of Ishmael, snatching from the Children of Israel. They were refusing to admit the Just, only due to the fire of envy and jealousy.

They wanted also to include the Muslims with their disbelieving companions after leaving their religion Islam. So they used to try for raising different types of suspicious ideas in their hearts. They used to criticize the religion Islam and the personality of the Last Prophet Muhammad (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon him). They imagined that if the Muslims will not give up their religion then at the very least, they will become suspicious certainly from their religion side. So thence the religion Islam will become weak.

Allaah Almighty commanded to Muslims that they should resist their attack and finish the attempt of the Children of Israel that they must not attend to them. Moreover, they should wait for the proclamation of the last command of God Almighty “Jihad fii SabiiLillaah” and during this period, keep up following two basic principles.

1.   Establish the prayer.

2.   Pay the poor-due.

These two principles are like two main pillars of Islam, due to which, the power of the both (individual as well as the nation) increases and that cannot be rebelled from the religion.

Besides other unlimited advantages, organization of the nation becomes powerful due to establishing the prayer. Relationship among the people themselves becomes profound. And they remain united for one another. The wealth is divided by the poor-due. The poor becomes rich and they cannot be changed due to greed and cause of their financial weakness.

It has also been described that if you will continue this good act then you will get reward from your Lord Almighty because He witnesses your every act. Even, a little try of any person, does not become fruitless.

So, to save ourselves from the conspiracies and attacks of the enemies, we should hold fast these two principles.

Envy Of The People Of The Scripture

 

Envy Of The People Of The Scripture (L-136)

وَدَّ كَثيرٌ مِن أَهلِ الكِتابِ لَو يَرُدّونَكُم مِن بَعدِ إيمانِكُم كُفّارًا حَسَدًا مِن عِندِ أَنفُسِهِم مِن بَعدِ ما تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الحَقُّ ۖ فَاعفوا وَاصفَحوا حَتّىٰ يَأتِيَ اللَّهُ بِأَمرِهِ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلىٰ كُلِّ شَيءٍ قَديرٌ 109.

109.  Wadda kasiirum-min  ‘Ah-lil-Kitaabi  law  yarudduuna- kum- mim- ba’-di ‘iimaanikum  kuf-faaraa.  Hasadam-min ‘indi ‘an-fusihim-mim- ba’-di maa tabay-yana  lahumul-Haqq.  Fa’-fuu was-fahuu  hattaa  ya’-tiyAllaahu bi-‘amriH.   ‘InnAllaaha ‘alaa  kulli shay-‘in- Qadiir.

109.  Many of the People of the Scripture long to make you disbelievers after your belief, through envy on their own account, after the truth has become manifest unto them. Forgive and be indulgent (towards them) until Allah gives command. Lo! Allah is able to do all things.

The behavior of disbelievers and Children of Israel has been discussed in the above lesson that they used to ask questions from their Prophets (peace be upon them) again and again. At last, they chose the way of infidelity by giving up the belief due to their false manners. Now the Muslims are being warned that they have long to make you disbelievers after your belief, by means of envy on their own account, after the truth has become clear unto them. Cause of this passion into the Infidels and the Children of Israel is that they have hearty envy and malice against Islam and Muslims.

Envy means to pine/enrage in the heart due to looking any goodness of someone, success, excellence, beauty and quality, and wish to rob from him that; it should become of mine. He (the envious) not only has the enmity with someone else but in fact, he criticizes the Religion of Allaah Almighty. And without any reason, he envies in his heart. None can get something by jealousy. However, morality of him is enraged unavoidable. And his belief is lessened.

Allaah Almighty Commanded, “Forgive and be indulgent (towards them) until Allaah gives command”, wait till the time; they might not reach the last stage of enmity, and their controversy is not confirmed.

Questioning The Messenger

 

Asking questions from the Messenger (L-135)

أَم تُريدونَ أَن تَسأَلوا رَسولَكُم كَما سُئِلَ موسىٰ مِن قَبلُ ۗ وَمَن يَتَبَدَّلِ الكُفرَ بِالإيمانِ فَقَد ضَلَّ سَواءَ السَّبيلِ 108.

108.  ‘Am turiiduuna  ‘an- tas-‘aluu  Rasuulakum  kamaa  su-‘ila  Muusaa  min-  qabl.   Wa  many-‘yatabaddalil-kufra  bil-‘iimaani  faqad zalla sawaaa-‘assabiil.

108.  Or would you question your Messenger as Moses was questioned aforetime? He who chooses disbelief instead of faith, verily he has gone astray from a right path.

We have studied about abrogation of the verses in the last lesson that when God Almighty abrogates or causes to be forgotten such of His Revelations, He brings (in place) one better or the like thereof. It has been proved in the light of events/incidents and history that whenever any Heavenly Scripture was caused to be forgotten or abrogated; then one better or the like thereof was revealed in place of it and the Servants of God Almighty (peace be upon them) were not disappointed from the Guidance of Allaah Almighty.

Now one famous matter is being illuminated in this verse, which is Guidance about asking questions from the Merciful Messenger Muhammad (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon him). The Children of Israel used to try to produce various sorts of doubts in the hearts of Muslims, about the Messenger of God Almighty (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon him) and Holy Qur’an, and say to them to ask questions from the Prophet of Allaah Almighty (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon him) to clear their doubts. Actually, their aim was: If the Muslims do not accept their religion then they, at the very least, will become suspicious from their own religion and Islamic teachings. Some Muslims used to ask unreasonable questions from the Last Messenger (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon him) due to not knowing the conspiracy and plan of the Children of Israel. God Almighty forbade them from such questioning.

There is another purpose of preventing from asking questions also from the Prophet of God Almighty (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon him). Due to questioning over and over, it becomes cause of increasing the difficulties and restrictions over oneself by the human beings. Easy commands become difficult. The matters, in which a person had freedom, after the Revelation of orders that individual has been restricted. It all was happened with the Children of Israel. For instance; story of the Cow does exist before us.

Abrogation of Verses (L-134)

ما نَنسَخ مِن آيَةٍ أَو نُنسِها نَأتِ بِخَيرٍ مِنها أَو مِثلِها ۗ أَلَم تَعلَم أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَلىٰ كُلِّ شَيءٍ قَديرٌ106.    أَلَم تَعلَم أَنَّ اللَّهَ لَهُ مُلكُ السَّماواتِ وَالأَرضِ ۗ وَما لَكُم مِن دونِ اللَّهِ مِن وَلِيٍّ وَلا نَصيرٍ107.

106.  Maa  nansakh  min  ‘aa-yatin  ‘aw Nunsihaa Na’-ti bi-khayrim-minhaaa ‘aw mislihaa.  ‘Alam  ta’-lam  ‘annAllaaha  ‘alaa kulli shay-‘in- Qadiir. 107.  ‘Alam  ta’-lam  ‘annAllaaha laHuu mulkus-samaawaati  wal-‘arz.  Wa maa lakum- min- duu-Nillaahi  minw-waliyyinw-wa laa  nasiir.

106.  Such of Our Revelation as We abrogate or cause be forgotten, but We bring (in place) one better or the like thereof. Know you not that Allah is Able to do all things? 107.  Know you not that it is Allah unto Whom belongs the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. And you have not, beside Allah, any guardian or helper?

Maa nansakh min ‘aa-yatin – (Such of Our Revelation as We abrogate), there are two words considerable in this sentence:

• ‘Aa-yat,(literal meanings are sign and token) and many things are aimed from it like miracles, which have signs of the Power of God Almighty and prophet-hood of the Prophet, Command and order of Lord Almighty, and the verses of Holy Qur’an (round signs) etc.

• Nansakh, (We abrogate), to order in place of any previous order, which may be better than that, or the like thereof, to finish the first order and bring (in place) one better or alike. As far as, there is concern to change the miracle, in that case, it is a common thing that God Almighty may abrogate one miracle and may bring one better or alike, to which He considers better according to the change of time. As far as, there is concern about the other meanings, in it, two additional matters come out: One is the verses of previous Heavenly Scriptures and the second is the verses of Holy Qur’an itself. Abrogation of the previous Heavenly Books, after revelation of Holy Qur’an is, then quite an openly matter.

The signs of the verses of Holy Qur’an (rounds) have been applied later on. In the beginning these signs did not exist. So, the question regarding abrogation of these signs; does not grow. Moreover, it seems the right saying, “Aim regarding abrogation of the verses is that the new Commands and Orders of God Almighty have been revealed in Holy Qur’an in place of His previous Orders and Commands mentioned in His Old Heavenly Scriptures i.e. Torah and Gospel), and these Commandments abrogate the old Commandments.

Religious Persecution Of The Infidels

Bigotry of infidels (L-133)

مَّا يَوَدُّ الَّذينَ كَفَروا مِن أَهلِ الكِتابِ وَلَا المُشرِكينَ أَن يُنَزَّلَ عَلَيكُم مِن خَيرٍ مِن رَبِّكُم ۗ وَاللَّهُ يَختَصُّ بِرَحمَتِهِ مَن يَشاءُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ ذُو الفَضلِ العَظيمِ105.

105.  Maa  yawaddullaziina kafaruu min- ‘Ahlil-kitaabi  wa lal-Mushrikiina  ‘any-yunazzala  ‘alaykum-min  khayrim-mir-Rabbikum.  Wallaahu yakh-tassu  bi-rahmatiHii many-ya-shaaa’.  Wallaahu  Zul-Fazlil-‘aziim.

105.  Neither those who disbelieve among the people of the Scripture nor the idolaters love that there should be sent down unto you any good thing from your Lord. And Allah chooses for His mercy whom He will. And Allah is of Infinite Bounty.

 ‘Allaziina kafaruu – (those who disbelieve, the Infidels), this word has been derived from kafara. Literal meaning of kafara is ‘to hide’. In the phraseology of Islam, disbeliever of Allaah Almighty and His Last Messenger Muhammad (glory, grace, peace and blessings be upon him) is called Infidel.

‘Ahlil-kitaabi - (The people of the Scripture), this phrase has been used many times in Holy Qur’an. ‘Ahlil-kitaab are those people, who have any revealed and heavenly Scripture. It is another class besides the Believers and the Infidels. The most famous of them are the Children of Israel and the Christians, who have the Revealed Books (Torah and Gospel). Alas! These both classes went astray gradually from the teachings of these Scriptures.

‘Al-Mushrikiina – (the idolaters), this word has come out from the word shirk, which means partnership. The idolater is the individual, who settles partners either in the Oneness of God Almighty or in His Virtues or in His Power and Commands. And he makes His partner worshipped in spite of One God.

Allaah Almighty has commanded in this verse that all Infidels, Idolaters and the people of the Scripture are filled with envy on the matter that why God Almighty bestows blessings and favors upon Muslims leaving them.

Then, He said that He chooses for His favors, whom He wishes. So, nobody should become jealous over any other. From which nations Prophet-hood had been snatched, that was not due to the avarice of God Almighty (I seek refuge in Allaah) but this favor was forfeited from the Children of Israel due to their own acts.
