Status Of The Wife

LESSON # 264 FROM HOLY QUR’AN
Status Of The Wife
BAQARAH – 2 (The Cow)
Verse – 223a    of  286, Section – 28 (Part - 2)

Your women are a tilth for you (to cultivate) so go to your tilth as ye will,
Nisaaa-‘ukum  harsul-lakum;  fa’-tuu  harsakum  ‘an-naa  shi’-tum;

Lesson

Hars – (agricultural land, farm), that piece of land is called hars where seed is sown and vegetable, grain and vegetation are gotten as though the wife is the source of producing children and increasing your breed/race.

Allah Almighty has cleared in this verse about true position of the wife in connection with wedding relationship. That is to say, the wife is like a farm for her husband, and as the farmer he keeps his farm very precious supposing it as his very big wealth, watches and guards it, earns grain from it, likewise the husband should also consider his wife as his very great fortune. He should watch and guard her, and get children from her.

As though it is proved that near Islam the real purpose of intercourse is only attainment of the children. Even its other aspects like demand of sensual pleasure have not been ignored too. It has also been evident that control over this production (birth control) is not a natural issue, because which stupid farmer would be that who sows the seeds but doesn't want the crop, uproots the plant before its growth. Then this matter also enlightens that as the farmer prays for pity rain from God Almighty, discloses his wish to bud and blossom the crop, like this the husband should also pray for getting virtuous children from God Almighty.

Allah Almighty Has admonished very much quoting the example of tilth (farm). Would that the human beings may think upon this instance and make happy these relations lastly with reliance of their lives.

‘An-naa  shi’-tum – (as you wish), ‘an-naa means ‘where’, it is also used for the meanings of ‘when, just as’. How the Holy Qur-‘an has advised about this matter pointing it with wisdom that there is no restriction on the method and time. But it has been forbidden to destroy one’s strength and race adopting the un-natural method. More detail will be discussed in the next lesson (last part of this verse).
