‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

71.  And whosoever repenteth and doeth good, he verily repenteth toward Allah with true repentance.

72.  And those who do not witness vanity, but when they pass near senseless play, pass by with dignity.
71.  Wa  man  taaba  wa  ‘amila  saalihan  fa-‘innahuu  yatuubu  ‘ilAllaahi  mataabaa.

72.  Wallaziina  laa  yash-haduu-naz-zuura,  wa  ‘izaa  marruu  bil-lagwi  marruu  kiraamaa.

Commentary

Generally it was described earlier to the Disbelievers that punishment of great evils will certainly be given to them. There is only one form of safety from the torment that; if they give up committing evil deeds, believe in Allaah Almighty and do good works, then their evil deeds will be forgiven and Allaah Almighty will change their evil deeds to good deeds in their Character Roll.

Now, it is being commanded to the Believers in this verse that if any of them commits any great evil deed negligently or carelessly, then its remedy is “Repentance”. That is to say, to intend strongly that “I shall never commit any such evil deed again” and along with this intension, doing good works. The person, who asks forgiveness (recites: I entreat forgiveness of Allaah) by his tongue at such occasion and apologizes humbly; bowing down in the Court of Allaah Almighty. After that, he should keep himself doing good works constantly.

Then again, the virtues of the righteous people have been described. It is commanded: These people do never tell a lie, nor give evidence falsely and nor take part in fraud, cheating or forgery etc. But they keep themselves away from such places where such evil deeds are committed. And they do neither partake in useless and senseless games, play, dance, songs and amusements, and nor quarrel with such people but they pass by such gatherings with dignity.

69.  The doom will be doubled for him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein disdained for ever;

70.  Save him who repenteth and believeth and doth righteous work; as for such, Allah will change their evil deeds to good deeds. And Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Merciful.
69.  Yuzaa-‘af  lahul-‘Azaabu  Yawmal-Qiyaamati  wa  yakh-lud  fiihii  muhaanaa.

Commentary

Muhaanan – (disdained, disgraced), this word is passive, past participle which has been derived from ‘ahaanatun. ‘Ahaanatun means “to abase, to insult, to contempt”.

It is commanded: The person, who does not refrain from above mentioned sins, does not believe in Allaah Almighty and His Law, the doom for such person will be doubled after death, on the Day of Resurrection, and he/she will abide in the Hell disdained for ever, because he/she committed great sins, that is to say, belief in a plurality of Allaah Almighty and infidelity, unjust murder and adultery etc.

The persons, who commit these sins, cannot be saved from torment, but when they will refrain from the sins, believe in Allaah Almighty and do good works, then they will deserve the Mercy of Allaah Almighty and their previous sins will be forgiven due to their Belief and good works. And by His kindness, their sins will be removed and Allaah Almighty will change their evil deeds to good deeds.

It has been warned in this verse that only one form of safety from the doom exists for mankind after death that he/she should believe in Allaah Almighty, escape from great evils according to the Sayings of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and do good works. If any sin is committed by any person erroneously, he should repent immediately.

Commentary

Lam  yaqturuu – (they are not misers), origin of this word is yaqturuuna, which means “misery, poverty).

In addition to previous lesson:

·       When the faithful slaves of Allaah Almighty spend, they are not prodigal but they spend suitably according to requirement and the circumstances permit only.

·       Neither they worship any other than Allaah Almighty and nor they call upon any other supposing that those are gods.

·       They do not kill unjust and violently to the creature; protected by Allaah Almighty, but by the permission of law when the Court has judged that he/she deserves death.

·       They keep themselves away from fornication/adultery and abstain from unlawful sexual relationships.

After that it is commanded: The people, who cross the line of prescribed religious law and commit those works fearlessly which are forbidden, they are sinners and lawful punishment will certainly be given to them. Moreover, on the Day of Resurrection too, they will be suffering from the great doom due to their evil deeds.

61.  Blessed be He Who hath placed in the heaven mansions of the stars, and hath placed therein a great lamp and a moon giving light.

62.  And He it is Who hath appointed night and day in succession, for him who desireth to remember, or desireth thankfulness.
61.  Tabaarakal-lazii  ja-‘ala  fis-samaaa-‘i  Buruujanw-wa  ja-‘ala  fiihaa  siraajanw-wa  qamaram-muniiraa.

62.  Wa  Huwal-lazii  ja-‘alal-layla  wan-nahaara  khilfa-tal-limun  ‘araada  ‘any-yazzakkara  ‘aw  ‘araada  shukuuraa.

Commentary

Siraaj – (lamp), here it aims “the sun”.

Buruuj – (parts), this word is plural of burj. There are twelve parts of the sky, every part of which is called “Burj”.

Khilfatan – (following each other), origin of this word is khalaf, which means “a successor”. Khilfatan means “to follow in order (one succeeds the other).

For knowing Allaah Almighty, the most apparent Sign is “coming of day and night behind each other constantly and regularly.

In fact, the mankind does not think, otherwise when any man, who is not too much intelligent, will observe that one thing has been moving on one way itself again and again, can understand it easily that Someone exists Who has established this system.

Therefore, it has been commanded in this verse that He is Allaah Almighty Who is Blessed, Who created the heaven for establishing this arrangement, divided it in twelve parts (Buruuj); in which the stars move, Who placed the sun and the moon in it, by the means of their movement and regular change in their places, days and nights appear one after one. This movement is as much regular that the day and the night become successors of each other.

In this arrangement, there are countless benefits for the mankind. By looking them, if a wise person desires; can know Allaah Almighty easily and be thankful to Him. Main aim of the mankind should be the same.
