Responsibility of the Messenger (L-145)

إِنّا أَرسَلناكَ
بِالحَقِّ بَشيرًا وَنَذيرًا ۖ وَلا تُسأَلُ عَن أَصحابِ الجَحيمِ119. |

119. ‘InNaaa ‘arsalNaaka
bil-haqqi bashiiranw-wa naziiranw,-wa laa tus-‘alu ‘an
‘As-haabil-Jahiim. |
|
119. We have sent you with the truth—bringing good news,
and giving warnings. You will not be questioned about the inmates of Hell. |
Bil-haqqi – (with the truth), it aims: We (God Almighty) have sent You {O Muhammad
(ﷺ) to Guide the human beings with the Truth. It also means that ‘You speak the truth always, produce clear proofs and bright arguments for the Right.
Bashiirun – (a bringer of glad-tidings), that is to say; Muhammad (ﷺ) is a bringer of glad-tidings of happiness and betterment (in this world and the Day of Resurrection as retribution of good deeds) for the people, who believe and follow the Commandments and Instructions of God and His Messenger.
Naziirun – (The Warner), The Messenger (ﷺ) warns them who disbelieve, deny, commit sins and violate, from bad results of evil-deeds, and frighten them from punishment during their present life and the Day of Resurrection. These two characteristics of the Last Messenger (ﷺ) are very important.
The Infidels and the Idolaters had doubts in Prophet-hood of Muhammad (ﷺ) and the Truth of Holy Qur’an, and they used to argue, “If God can talk with a Messenger (ﷺ) then why does He not talk with us whereas we are also mankind? Or why does He not bestow to Muhammad (ﷺ) a great miracle; due to which the Prophet-hood and the Truth may be proved naturally?”
Replying to their argument, God commanded: Do you ask for one miracle? We have bestowed many miracles to Our Messenger (ﷺ), but only those people will believe in him (ﷺ) who are truly seekers of the Truth wholeheartedly and have belief in the Truth. Those people will not believe whose perspective is only to criticize and produce doubts.
God has commanded in this verse to His Messenger (ﷺ): We have sent you with the True Religion. The people, who follow you, are Believers. For them, you are Bringer of glad-tidings for their good works. However, those, who will not follow you, they are Infidels; they will be thrown into the Fire of the Hell. You are Warner for them for their bad consequence. Messenger’s duty is only to convey the Message of God. He (ﷺ) is not responsible of making the Infidels and Idolaters Muslims.
