Commentary
Tulhii – (beguiles, makes careless, turns away), origin of this word
is ‘il-haa-‘un, which has come out from la-ha-wa – to mislead, to
play the trick, to deceive.
‘Aasaalun – (in the evenings), it is plural of ‘asiil,
which is used in Arabic language for all such times, which begin with effect from
setting of the sun till rising early in the morning. The aim from the word ‘aasaalun
is, “its different parts”. In reality, the Light of Allaah Almighty has
been spreading all around in the heavens and in the earth, but particular places
of its appearance are those where complete cleanliness, neatness and elegance
is found.
In this part of the verse, it is commanded: those mosques (Masaajid)
are particular places of the appearance of the Light which are constructed by
means of Prophets (peace be upon them) and Allaah’s virtuous slaves, and
it has been commanded that after their construction, those should be preserved,
looked after and treated with respect. And those houses should be kept clean
and clear from impurity and thickness, and the name of Allaah Almighty
should be remembered therein. So those slaves of Allaah Almighty, who
seek His pleasure, assemble for His congregational worship, hymn and praise of
Him. First time of their gathering is early in the morning, and then with
effect from afternoon to before next day’s morning. In the morn (guduwwi)
come all Fajr to before Zuhar compulsory and voluntary prayers,
but in the evening (‘aasaal) come all Zuhar to before next day’s Fajr
- compulsory and voluntary prayers, as Zuhar, ‘Asr, Magrib,
‘Ishaa’ compulsory (Farz) prayers including voluntary prayers as Nafl
and Tahajjad etc.
Slaves of Allaah Almighty spare their times from their business
and other works for compulsory and aggregation prayers and offer voluntary
prayers according to availability of times. Moreover they pay the poor-due
regularly for the pleasure of Allaah Almighty. No business or engagement
can prevent them from the adoration of Allaah Almighty and performing
their duties
