Lesson

Khifaafun – (light-armed), this word is plural of khafiif, which has been made from the word khiffatun. Khiffatun means “to be light”. Khafiif is an adjective from it. The light is such person who is not loaded or who has no goods for lifting. Light-armed has the same meaning here.

Siqaalun – (heavy, burdened), it is plural of saqiil, which is also an adjective and have been derived from saqal. It means “to be loaded” and it is used for a load too. Saqiil is that person who has some luggage to lift.

It was admonished in the previous verse that neither God Almighty is needy of you and nor of your help. He takes work from you for the purpose that your degrees may be increased and give you gifts and rewards after examining your obedience. Therefore, if you desire to obtain the happiness of the both Worlds, then it is the time for that purpose.

Get ready for work. If you are ready then hear: What are you being commanded at this time? Do not seek any excuse or pretext in obeying His Command. Join the Army in such condition; in which you are, leaving your homes and families and move up. The same has been explained in this verse.

It is commanded that you should stand up immediately, in which condition you are, whether someone of you is a foot solder or has any horse for riding, rich or poor. One should produce himself to sacrifice; who has nothing to sacrifice, but who has wealth also; he must produce the both i.e. himself and his wealth. No pretext will be accepted at this time.

It is not the time of thinking that the weather is very hot, we have not provisions and goods for fighting, or we have to cut the ripen crops. You must have full trust in your greatest General, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and believe that there is much betterment for you in this journey of war.

Ahead, you will know automatically. Although, you cannot estimate at this time that what the Muslims will get in this journey? Apparently it seems that there is only loss and damage in this journey, giving up rest and cold of the house, bearing severity of the hot season, moving fast in the forests being hungry and thirsty, and besides this all loss of crops.

After hearing the above command, the entire Muslims got ready. However, the hypocrites began to evade of various sorts.
