Power of the Jinn? (L-2781)
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ ٱلْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ 158b سُبْحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ 159 إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ 160 فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ 161 مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَٰتِنِينَ 162 |
158b. Wa laqad ‘alimatil-Jinnatu ‘innahum la-muhzaruun. |
158b. But the jinn know that they will be arraigned. 159. God be glorified, far above what they allege. 160. Except for God’s sincere servants. 161. Surely, you and what you serve. 162. Cannot seduce away from Him. |
Faatiniina – (those who tempt someone away, seducers), this word is plural of faatin, which is the Subject and plural from fatan. Fitnah means “to lead astray”. Here it aims the same.
The people of Arab used to have faith that the Jinn were very powerful creature. They used to consider that the Jinn can trouble, confuse and lead astray to whom they desire. They had belief that the Angels were the children of the Jinn but instead of molesting others, they were doers of good. On account of such ill-founded thoughts, they used to say that the Jinn were from the family of father-in-law of God Almighty and the Angels were His daughters (Let us flee to God). This verse refutes the same nonsense.
It is commanded: it is the state of the Jinn that they know very well that they will be seized and brought in the Court of God Almighty like criminals, will be punished due to their wicked deeds, and whatever you say concerning them; is entirely wrong. God Almighty is glorified from all such matters which you relate to Him. He begets not nor was He begotten. All are His slaves. Entire such people will come before Him duly seized who will disobey His Commandments. Only those people will be saved who are His chosen slaves. Say to these refractory people! You and your so-called gods do not have any power that they may lead astray to any slave of God Almighty. Possessor and Master of all powers and forces is only God Almighty. There is none who may deliver to anyone good or bad, benefit or harm. Everything is under His control.
