Quran Chapter 17  55 & 56 (Pt-15, Stg-4) (L-1817) درس قرآن

Preference of some Prophets above others

Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil (The Children of Israel) – 17

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

55.  And thy Lord is Best Aware of all who are in the heavens and the earth. And We preferred some of the prophets above others, and unto David We gave the Psalms.

56.  Say: Cry unto those (saints and angels) whom ye assume (to be gods) beside Him, yet they have no power to rid you of misfortune; nor to change.
55.  Wa  Rabbuka  ‘A’-lamu  bi-man- fis-samaawaati  wal-‘arz.  Wa  laqad  fazzalNaa  ba’-zan-nabiyyiina  ‘alaa  ba’-zinw-wa  ‘aatayNaa  Dawuuda  Zabuuraa.

56.  Qulid-‘ullaziina  za-‘amtum-min-  duuniHii  falaa  yamlikuuna  kashfaz-zurri  ‘ankum  wa  laa  tahwiilaa.

Commentary

Tahwiil – (to change), this word has come out from the word hawl, which contains many meanings i.e. “to change, exchange, power, to come in between two things”. Here, it aims “to change, exchange the possession”.

It is commanded: Allah Almighty is Best Knower about the condition of every individual. He sent separate Prophets (peace be upon them) at all times so that they may convey the Message of Allah Almighty to the people existing during their times. He preferred some of the Prophets above others (peace be upon them) under some terms. One of them was Prophet David (peace be upon him) who was bestowed with an empire along with a Scripture named Zaboor (Psalms).

Like that, Allah Almighty chose Muhammad from the human beings in this era, appointed him His Last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and bestowed unto him a magnificent Scripture named “Qur’an”, in which, on one side; rules and regulations regarding management of the world have been explained, and on the other side; way of arranging for the life in the Hereafter has been mentioned.

For management of the country; even fighting is necessary, but for dressing the next life (of the Last Day); no one can be compelled. Whosoever desires, should hear the Message of Holy Qur’an and arrange for the life of the Hereafter. For this purpose, you should say to the Infidels that they should never ascribe any partner with Allah Almighty. It is the first condition for the betterment of the mankind. Polytheism is a useless thing because no one has any power save Allah Almighty that he may rid you of any calamity or lighten it. You can see by calling your gods, they can never help you in any matter. Protecting Friend is only One – God Almighty.
