Lineage of Prophet-hood (L-3029)

قُلْ مَا كُنتُ بِدْعًا مِّنَ ٱلرُّسُلِ وَمَآ أَدْرِى مَا يُفْعَلُ بِى وَلَا بِكُمْ إِنْ أَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ 9  قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِن كَانَ مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ وَكَفَرْتُم بِهِۦ وَشَهِدَ شَاهِدٌ مِّنۢ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ عَلَىٰ مِثْلِهِۦ فَـَٔامَنَ وَٱسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ 10

9.  Qul  maa  kuntu  bid-'am-minar-Rusuli  wa  maaa  ‘adrii   maa  yuf-'alu  bii  wa  laa  bikum.  ‘In ‘atta-bi-'u  ‘illaa  maa  yuuhaaa  ‘ilayya   wa  maaa ‘ana ‘illaa  Naziirum- mubiin. 10.  Qul  ‘ara-'aytum  ‘in-  kaana   min  'inDillaahi  wa  kafartum-  bihii  wa  shahida   shaahidum-mim- Baniii- ‘Israaa-'iila  'alaa  mislihii  fa-‘aamana  wastak-bartum.  ‘InnAllaaha  laa  yahdil-qawmaz-zaalimiin.  (Section 1/1)

9. Say: I am no new thing among the messengers (of Allah), nor know I what will be done with me or with you. I do but follow that which is inspired in me, and I am but a plain warner. 10. Bethink you: If it is from Allah and you disbelieve therein, and a witness of the Children of Israel has already testified to the like thereof and has believed, and you are too proud (what plight is yours)? Lo! Allah guides not wrong-doing folk.

In this verse, it is being commanded to the Messenger of Allaah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him): Say to them! I am neither a new among the Messengers (peace be upon them) in the world, because many Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon them) were sent from time to time before me in the world, and nor I claim that I know everything. I don’t know what will be done with me or how will you be treated. I only follow the Commandments which are revealed to me from Allaah Almighty. And I warn you clearly from the nature of the consequence of wicked deeds.

Behold! You consider that the Children of Israel are well educated. You asked also from their scholars, who witnessed that, “Yes! A Last Messenger is near to come with the last Scripture”. Moreover, some of those scholars have believed also and admitted that, “I am the Last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) who have brought the last heavenly Book”. Even then you have been involved in your haughtiness. What is the end of your pride and stubbornness that you do not believe in the Messenger; sent by Allaah Almighty and His Scripture? It is violence clearly. The truth is that Allaah Almighty does not show the Straight Path to them who go astray and cannot come back to the Right Path.
