Desire of the Jews and the Christians (L-146)

وَلَن تَرضىٰ عَنكَ
اليَهودُ وَلَا النَّصارىٰ حَتّىٰ تَتَّبِعَ مِلَّتَهُم ۗ قُل إِنَّ هُدَى
اللَّهِ هُوَ الهُدىٰ ۗ وَلَئِنِ اتَّبَعتَ أَهواءَهُم بَعدَ الَّذي جاءَكَ مِنَ
العِلمِ ۙ ما لَكَ مِنَ اللَّهِ مِن وَلِيٍّ وَلا نَصيرٍ120. |

120. Wa lan- tarzaa ‘ankal- Yahuudu wa lan-Nasaaraa
hattaa tattabi-‘a millatahum. Qul ‘inna HudAllaahi
huwal-Hudaa. Wa la-‘init-taba’-ta ‘ahwaaa-‘ahum ba’-dallazii
jaaa-‘aka minal-‘ilmi, maa laka minAllaahi minw-waliyyinw-wa laa nasiir. |

120. The Jews and the Christians will not approve of you,
unless you follow their creed. Say, “God’s guidance is the guidance.” Should
you follow their desires, after the knowledge that has come to you, you will
have in God neither guardian nor helper. |
The Children of Israel and the Christians were so much envious that whether the Messenger (ﷺ) would have behaved with them much sympathetically or had shown partiality, but they ignored always and disbelieved for ever in his (ﷺ) Sayings. They might be pleased only when the Messenger (ﷺ) would have accepted/embraced their religion.
God commands, “The true religion and real way of guidance is only that, which He has revealed on His Last Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), that is to say; worship of God and good works. As much as the groups have been grown separately, they all have been produced by human straying. The individuals, who will leave the straight path intentionally, will be punished rigorously and they will not find any protecting friend or helper of them.
Two things have been cleared entirely from this verse:
1. The religion of the people of The Scripture has been changed so much that there has remained nothing except their desires and false wishes.
The real path for the mankind is that, which has been cleared well by God by means of His Last Messenger (ﷺ).
