Surah YUUNUS - 10 (JONAH)

 BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

66b.  And what do they follow who call on associates beside Allah? They follow only a conjecture, and they do but guess.
66b.  Wa  maa  yattabi-‘ullaziina  yad-‘uuna  min  duu-Nillaahi  shurakaaa’.  ‘Iny-yattabi-‘uuna  ‘illaz-zanna  wa  ‘in  hum  ‘illaa  yakh-rusuun.

Commentary

Yakh-rusuun – (they do guess), this word has been derived from khar-sun. khar-sun means “to say something by guess and conjecturally; which is not indisputable and evident.

It is commanded: Only such persons can call for help to any other than Allah Almighty who have not the real knowledge. Their eyes are dazzled by looking the apparent, and do not let them deliberate on Divine Revelation. But the influence of the Unseen has been spread over everyone as much that they can never remain careless from Him. They have to be confuted of the Unseen at any time.

If at that time, they received the Message of Divine Revelation, that is to say, Holy Qur’aan and Sayings of the Messenger (peace be upon Him) correctly, then in the light of that Knowledge; they acquire correct solution of this problem and are saved from errors. But if they remained deprived of the Light of Divine Revelation, then they went astray, missed the right path and caused to run their thought about the Unseen here and there, which is as shooting an imaginary arrow in the darkness by guess due to deprival from the Light of True Knowledge, but that arrow hits a target which is not such; required to be hit.

For the guidance of mankind, Allah Almighty sent His Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon them) with His Wisdom, and made their nature as such that they did neither use to trust in the rumors without ascertainment and test, and nor used to form any opinion without proof. When the Message of Allah Almighty came unto those noble Individuals {(Prophets and Messengers) (peace be upon Them)}; and the Angel Gabriel (peace be upon Him) caused to hear them reciting, then before this True and Firm News; national or ancestral superstition, weakness of faith, self-fabricated stories of demi-gods and goddesses, all famous powers of temples – attributes of granting children and fulfilling desires were vitiated, and then eyes of these chosen great persons did not stay on any other solver of difficulties and supplier of the wants than endowment and grant of Allah Almighty. Neither the power of Nimrod could threaten Them (peace be upon Them) and nor terrify sway of Pharaoh, nor fear of hanging could do them silent and nor threat of stoning to death could repel them from the Belief.
