Success; without God’s help is not possible
Surah Ra-‘d (The Thunder) - 13

(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

14. Unto Him is real
prayer. Those unto whom they pray beside Allah respond to them not at all,
save as (is the response to) one who stretcheth forth his hands toward water
(asking) that it may come unto his mouth, and it will never reach it. And the
prayer of disbelievers goeth (far) astray.

Commentary
It is commanded: When you have heard that profit
and loss is in the Hands of Allah Almighty only, everyone is helpless save Him,
then you should explain now! Who should be asked for help? While this reality
has been manifested that only He is Who knows all things and only He is Who is
Aware of the entire circumstances – hidden and open. He has Power to give
suffering and happiness, profit and loss, ability and debility, then why do you
choose others as your worshipped? And why do you stretch your hands before any
other at the time of necessity? Instance of asking for help from helpless and
powerless things is as a person stand before a well, canal, reservoir, even a
glass or pot etc. filled with water, and say to the water: Come into my throat.
Though he devise hundred thousand times like this, the water will never reach
his throat, and nor that water can tell that: Scheme for it if you desire to
pour me in your throat and quench your thirst.
In fact, use of sense correctly, which is given by
Allah Almighty, is just like invoking Him. Forgetting Allah Almighty, after
looking apparent things, is going astray. Success in any field of life, without
His help, is not possible
