Confirmation in the previous Scriptures (L-147)

الَّذينَ آتَيناهُمُ
الكِتابَ يَتلونَهُ حَقَّ تِلاوَتِهِ أُولٰئِكَ يُؤمِنونَ بِهِ ۗ وَمَن يَكفُر
بِهِ فَأُولٰئِكَ هُمُ الخاسِرونَ121. |

121. ‘Allaziina ‘aatay-Naahu-mul-Kitaaba
yatluunahuu haqqa tilaawatih. ‘Ulaaa-‘ika yu’-minuuna bih.
Wa many-yakfur bihii fa-‘ulaaa-‘ika humul-khaasiruun. (Section

121. Those to whom We have given the Scripture follow it,
as it ought to be followed—these believe in it. But as for those who reject
it—these are the losers. |
Haqqa tilaawatih – (the
right of its reading), tilaawat means reciting and reading. The
word tuloo is its origin. Literal meaning of this word is ‘to follow’. So the aim from this sentence is that the people, who have a right to recite the Scripture of God. That is to say; they also act upon it, they follow the instructions guided in it and they do neither decrease and nor increase in it.
‘Allaziina ‘aatay-Naahu-mul-Kitaaba – (Those people to whom We have given the Scripture), it signifies towards the Children of Israel and the Christians.
Result of making groups in the religion was mentioned in the last verse. Namely, soul of following the teachings of the groups is working in place of truth-loving and looking the reality. The people do not observe any individual’s belief and deeds. They see only that whether any person belongs to their group or otherwise. When the sense of people becomes so, then it is clear that the arguments and proofs cannot produce effects. All the proofs become useless for the people, whether how much true and real facts are produced.
It has been mentioned in today’s lesson that if the people of the Scriptures adopt honesty, sincerity and friendship, leaving anger, lust and stubbornness, and recite their Holly Books wholeheartedly, then they might be convinced on the truth of Holy Qur’an and the Last Messenger (ﷺ), and will believe in Prophet-hood of Muhammad (ﷺ).
Those, who change and distort their Holy Books and don’t be attentive with good intentions, they would never be convinced on the truth of Holy Qur’an. They are involved in anger, stubbornness, sensual desires and group making. If it is done by them then they will remain involved in infidelity forever. They will reject the truth continuously. Resultant, they will suffer loss in this world and will be ruined on the Day of Resurrection.
