Lesson from circumstances of the Children of Israel (L-265)

سَلْ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ كَمْ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُم مِّنْ ءَايَةٍۭ بَيِّنَةٍ ۗ وَمَن يُبَدِّلْ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَتْهُ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ211.

211.  Sal  Baniii-‘Is-raaa-‘iila  kam  ‘aatayNaahum-min  ‘Aa-yatim-bayyinah.  Wa  many-yubaddil  ni’-matAllaahi  mim-ba’-di  maa  jaaa-‘at-hu  fa- ‘innAllaaha  Shadiidul- ‘iqaab.

211.  Ask the Children of Israel how many clear signs We have given them. Whoever alters the blessing of God after it has come to him—God is severe in retribution.

It has been declared previously that God and His Angels (Peace be upon them) did never come openly close to the human beings. Moreover, God has sent always His Prophets and Messengers (Peace be upon them) among them for guidance of the mankind. In this verse, this fact is being cleared from the history of the Children of Israel. God says: We sent many such Signs unto the Children of Israel from which the truth of the existence of God, manifested Truth and Teachings of His Messengers (Peace be upon them). But they put all such Signs behind. God honored them, but they proved that they were thankless. God bestowed kindnesses upon the Children of Israel in abundance; some of them are being stated here briefly:

1.   They were set free from the oppression of Pharaoh. Pharaoh used to cause slaughtering of sons of the Children of Israel and keep their daughters alive, take hard labor from them, disgrace and ruin them in all respect. God saved them from his oppression.  

2.   A glorious Prophet named Moses (Peace be upon him) was sent by Him into them, who brought them out from the slavery of Pharaoh, fear and dominion of the Qabtiis.

3.   Drowned their enemy Pharaoh into the sea before their eyes.  

4.   Kept them under the shadow of clouds during their period in the deserts of Sinai Valley, sent down Manna and Quails for their food, caused to flow for them twelve springs of water.

5.   Revealed Torah upon Prophet Moses (Peace be upon him) for their guidance.

6.   Arranged to settle them in their own Country Palestine.

7.   Maintained a chain of Prophets (Peace be upon them) among their race for a long time.

But, despite all these favors, the Children of Israel followed their personal desires. They turned their faces from Holy Scripture, revealed by God and denied from His Commandments. They remained busy as their minds desired. God sent upon them different kinds of disasters as punishment due to their disobedience, so that; they should come towards the Straight Path. But even then, their scholars changed the words and meanings of the Commandments of God, and made changes intentionally in Holy Scripture. The public followed them blindly. If such people will resist; even now; on their words and will not believe in the True and Last Word of God “Holy Qur’an”, they should remember!
