Meditation in the incidents of old people

Surah ‘Ibraahiim (Abraham) - 14

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

وَسَكَنتُمْ فِى مَسَٰكِنِ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمْ كَيْفَ فَعَلْنَا بِهِمْ وَضَرَبْنَا لَكُمُٱلْأَمْثَالَ 45  

وَقَدْ مَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرَهُمْ وَعِندَ ٱللَّهِ مَكْرُهُمْ وَإِن كَانَ مَكْرُهُمْ لِتَزُولَ مِنْهُ ٱلْجِبَالُ 46

45.  And (have ye not) dwelt in the dwellings of those who wronged themselves (of old) and (hath it not) become plain to you how We dealt with them and made examples for you? 46.  And verily they have plotted their plots, and their all plot is with Allah, though their plots were such whereby the mountains should be moved.

45.  Wa  sakantum  fii  masaa-kinil-laziina  zalamuuu  ‘anfu-sahum  wa tabayya-na  lakum  kayfa  fa-‘alnaa  bihim  wa  za-rabnaa  lakumul-‘Amsall. 46.  Wa  qad  makaruu  mak-rahum  wa  ‘indAllaahi  makru-hum.  Wa  ‘in  kaana  makru-hum  litazuula  minhul-jibaal.

   

Commentary

It will be commanded on the Day of Resurrection: While you had all facilities to work in the world and you were informed properly that you should consider this opportunity (of life) sufficient, and produce a habit in yourselves to obey the commandments of Allah Almighty and follow the Sayings of Messengers (peace be upon them). The time was available for you to reflect in the circumstances of ancient people and take a warning from them. You were well aware that how severely We (God Almighty) punished them due to their evil deeds. Moreover, We had stated their condition before you in detail. They had devised big plans to complete them but in vain before Allah Almighty. Weak plots of an ignorant mankind cannot be as; whereby the mountains should be moved.
