Commentary
When Adam (peace be upon him) ate the fruit of that tree from
which he was prevented; being deceived by Satan, then they had to pay the
penalty of their error. It was clear Command of Allaah Almighty that
they should never touch the forbidden tree. Satan caused to understand them its
meaning something else. He explained in these words: From eating the fruit of
which tree you have been prevented, by eating it; a mankind becomes an Angel
and lives for ever. And because you will be kept human, so fruit of this tree
is not for your eating. Know you! If you are desirous to become an Angel, you
should eat its fruit. I swear that I am your well-wisher.
Adam (peace be upon him) considered that perhaps the aim from
forbidding would be the same that if he would have to remain human then he
should not eat the fruit of that tree, but if wishes to become an Angel then he
should eat it. He (peace be upon him) was taken even more in the oath taken by
Satan.
We should learn a lesson from it that we should not hear the explanation
of any person in the Clear Commandments of Holy Qur’an. We should act
upon that which is an Open Order. Often those people are selfish who try to
make clear. They work on their any secret mission.
In short, Adam (peace be upon him) was punished due to
elucidation of Satan. It was commanded to him: Go hence (you and your wife -
both) down from the Garden! Live in the world abroad, where your selfishnesses (devotions
to your own mutual interests with carelessness of others) will try to make
enemies of one another. Form of your coming back here again will be that I
shall send A Guide Book unto you. The person, who will act upon clear Commandments
mentioned in it, will neither go astray and nor will be involved in the
misfortunes of struggles of mutual enmities. That person will return in the
Garden being safe and sound from all calamities.
