Commentary
Some people, as soon as become rich, begin to show their meanness. They
do not have capability of understanding that they should not tease others by
their behavior. At first they begin to consider that only the world is
everything. Joking, mocking, gambling, games, fun, evil-working, delicious
foods, drinking, insult of the poor, choosing the rascals as friends and using
them for threatening, seducing others and massacre, in short, doing according
to own will, these were and are hobbies of the rich people. Korah used
to do all such deeds.
The sensible people caused to understand him: Behold! We all have to
die including you. Earn something by this wealth also for the Day of
Resurrection. This life is only for a few days. The life of the Hereafter will
be never-ending. Allaah Almighty has benefitted you, so you also should
do good for His creatures. Do not spread corruption in the Country by
gathering your supporters. Allaah Almighty does not like corrupters. They
will be ruined sooner or later.
After hearing this, Korah replied as usually today’s rich people
say. He said: Who are you advising me? I have earned this wealth by the
knowledge I have. It is my cleverness that I have so much wealth. Now you say
that it has been given by Allaah. If so, then why has it not been given
to you by Him?
