18a. And no burdened
soul can bear another’s burden, and if one heavy laden crieth for (help with)
his load, naught of it will be lifted even though he (unto whom he crieth) be
of kin. Thou warnest only those who fear their Lord in secret, and have
established worship.

Commentary
A separate way for every creature has been determined in the
entire universe which is adopted by them naturally and those perform their individual
duties. Only the mankind is such creature, for whom a way has been fixed, but
he can do as he desires and go astray from the Straight path. It is the reason
that the Prophets (peace be upon them) were sent to explain about the right
path and the Scriptures were descended for his guidance that what was good for
him and what was wrong. He was invested with authority for choosing the way of
life for himself. He was informed: Good reward will be given to you if you will
choose the right path and do good works. But if you will commit wicked deeds
then you will be punished.
Mankind is being caused to understand in this verse: Every
individual is responsible of personal deeds. No bearer
of burdens will bear the burden of any other on the Day of Resurrection. If a
heavily laden soul calls someone else to carry some of its load, nothing of it
will be carried, even if he should be a close relative.
After that, it is commanded: O Messenger
(grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him)! You should
frighten the people from the punishment of wrong deeds. But only that person
will fear Allaah Almighty who will have belief in Him and regard that, “There
is a Creator and Lord of mine. Although I cannot see Him in this world, however
He has been looking my entire deeds and He will punish me due to my sins”. This
fear keeps the Believer ready to obey His every Commandment. He thinks that he
should establish every prayer at its proper time regularly, because it is such
duty which is very difficult for most of the people and they frequently delay
in offering the prayer timely.
