| 10. Or do they possess
the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then
let them ascend the ropes. 11. An army of
confederates will be defeated there. 12. Before them the
people of Noah denied the truth; as did Aad, and Pharaoh of the Stakes. 13.
And Thamood, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the Woods—these were
  the confederates. |
‘Asbaab – (ways of access, means, ropes), this word is plural of
sabab, which means “any such thing by or by means of which, one reaches
any other place or thing”. It aims: Collect all ways of access for ascending to
heavens!
‘Al-‘awtaad – (the
owner of stakes). The aim from Zul-‘awtaad is (Pharaoh) the owner
of the Stakes, by means of which; he used to become strong.
‘As-haabul-‘Aykah – (the
companions of the thicket, the dwellers of the Woods) it is title of the
folk of Shueib (Peace be upon him). It has passed in Suratush-
Shu-‘araaa’.
It is commanded: Do they possess the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and that what is between them? Well, then they should collect the means of ascending and after reaching there; they should make arrangements of the world as they desire. They are nothing but a defeated group of some people. These are one from those groups which were ruined in the Past. Those were very powerful and haughty groups as the folk of Noah (Peace be upon him), Aad, powerful and proud Pharaoh, Thamud, the folk of Lot (Peace be upon him) and the folk of Shueib (Peace be upon him) etc. They all used to consider themselves very powerful, but where have they gone and what did happen with them?
