Commentary
RUBAMAA – (it may
be, mostly, often, frequently), the word Rubba in Arabic language, manifests
usually the repetition of any work or being of the work sometimes, or being
surplus/coming short of any thing’s quantity. When the verb is used after it,
then the word maa is added at its end. At that time, it can be read “Rubba-mmaa”
and “Ruba-maa” (in both forms).
Yulhi-him – (it
beguile them), the word yulhi is actually yulhii. Due to its use
as a reply to a command, the last “i” has been reduced. The word “hum”
is “third person plural”, that is to say “them”. The origin of the word Yulhii
is ‘ilhaa-‘un, which has been derived from lah-wun. Lah-wun
means play, sport, pastime and amusement etc. ‘Ilhaa-‘un means “to be
busy in games, to amuse one’s self, to make inattentive, to keep ignorant”.
It is commanded
that they are not using their sense at this time. Many such occasions will come
in future when they will grieve due to embracing not Islam. Therefore, when
they were defeated and the Muslims conquered, then they bewailed very much in
the world, and on the Day of Resurrection, there will be nothing for them
unfortunately save grief and remorse.
