Commentary
Rajiim – (the outcast), it
is an adjective from rajama. Rajam means “stoning, driving away”.
It aims “if you returned back, you would be stoned”.
‘Anzir – (Reprieve!), it
is a word of command from the word ‘anzaar, which has been derived from na-za-ra.
Nazar means “to look”. ‘Anzir means “Relieve temporarily!,
Respite after sentence of death!”.
Yub-‘asuun – (they are
raised), origin of this word is ba-‘asa, which means “to raise”. Here it
aims “when the dead people will be recalled from the death”.
It is commanded: O Outcast!
You are not capable of this high degree and position. So, go forth from hence.
The curse shall be upon you till the Day of Judgment. Then the eyes of Iblis
(the Devil) opened. He thought “the matter has been changed. I have been cursed
due to Adam (peace be upon him). It means that my enemy is Adam, so I shall
oppose Him and His descendants”. He spoke at once: My Lord! Give me respite at
least as much that I may also gratify ambition of my heart. Leave me till the
Day when human beings are recalled from the death. Punish me after that, as You
desire.
Then Allah Almighty
commanded: OK! You are reprieved till the Day of appointed time. Now you are
free. Do as you wish! Punishment of perpetual imprisonment and exclusion from
deliverance has been fixed for you after that.
