    Commentary
Gog and Magog have been stopped due to an obstacle, prepared
under supervision of Alexander the great, who was known as “lord of the two
horns”, i.e. east and west (Zulqarnain). When the Day of Resurrection will
reach nigh, then these vicious people will spread in the whole world. It was
mentioned earlier that the people who did wrong, were ruined due to their evil
days, they will never be reproduced in this world.
In this verse, it is commanded: When you behold that the rebellious
people have been spreading all over the world, then you should consider that
the Day of Resurrection is near. The last Day is such terrible Hour that when
the disbelievers will see It, they will forget to wink their eyes. Ruin and
destruction will be visible everywhere. Then they will cry out senselessly: Now
the evil is near to come upon us! Alas for us! We were ignorant from this side.
Not only we were careless, but we falsified it intentionally, rejected the
Sayings of the Prophets (peace be upon them) too and committed such works; due
to which coming of destruction was necessary.
