Earthquake of the Hour of Doom

Chapter “Hajj” – (The Pilgrimage) - 22

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim. 
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱتَّقُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّ زَلْزَلَةَ ٱلسَّاعَةِ شَىْءٌ عَظِيمٌ 1

يَوْمَ تَرَوْنَهَا تَذْهَلُ كُلُّ مُرْضِعَةٍ عَمَّآ أَرْضَعَتْ وَتَضَعُ كُلُّ ذَاتِ حَمْلٍ حَمْلَهَا وَتَرَى ٱلنَّاسَ سُكَٰرَىٰ وَمَا هُم بِسُكَٰرَىٰ وَلَٰكِنَّ عَذَابَٱللَّهِ شَدِيدٌ 2

1.  O mankind! Fear your Lord. Lo! The earthquake of the Hour (of Doom) is a tremendous thing. 2.  On the Day when ye behold it, every nursing mother will forget her nursing and every pregnant one will be delivered of her burden, and thou (Muhammad) wilt see mankind as drunken, yet they will not be drunken, but the Doom of Allah will be strong (upon them).

1.  Yaaa-‘ayyuhan-naasut-taquu  Rabbakum.  ‘Inna  zalzalatas-  Saa-‘ati  shay-‘un  ‘aziim. 2.  Yawma  tarawnahaa  tazhalu  kullu  murzi-‘atin  ‘ammaaa  ‘arza-‘at  wa  taza-‘u  kullu  zaati  Hamlin  hamlahaa  wa  taran-naasa  sukaaraa  wa  maa  hum-  bi-sukaaraa  wa  laakinna  ‘azaabAllaahi  shadiid.

Commentary

Tazhalu – (will forget, will be careless), origin of this word is za-ha-la. Zahuul means “to neglect, to be careless, to disregard”.

Murzi-‘atin – (Nursing mother), it is a feminine subject from the word ‘arzaa’, origin of which is ra-za-‘a. Raza-‘a means “to suckle, to nurse at the breast”. This word has passed in Chapter two.

Sukaaraa – (senseless, drunken), it is plural of sukraanun, which has been derived from the word sakara. Sakara means “to be intoxicated”. Sukraanun means “drunken, senseless due to intoxication”.

It is commanded: O people! Fear Allaah Almighty Who is your Lord. You live by His support. If He (Let us flee to Allaah) is displeased then you have no abode for living. Beware of unmindful sleep. Disobey not Allaah Almighty. Earthquake of the Day of Resurrection is very severe. Nursing mothers will forget suckling to their children and the pregnancies of pregnant women will be aborted. The condition of the mankind will be as the drunken people, but it will not be intoxication of any strong drink. Moreover the people will become senseless by looking the Doom of Allaah Almighty. Truly the Doom of Allaah Almighty is very severe. If only He preserve us then we are saved.
