(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

Commentary

Wariqun – (silver coin), in Arabic language; the words “wariqun and warqun” are used for silver. Here it aims “silver coins” which were in use during those days.

It is commanded that one of them said: Now give up thinking about the duration of sleeping and arrange for food. Take it! It is a silver coin. Send any one of you to the township; giving him this money, so that he may search purest food, purchase it and bring for us. But he should be very careful and go silently, so that the people may not begin to see him after hearing the sound of his soft foot-steps. He should talk softly so that the people may not be startled. You know that it is the time of calamities and adversities. Believers of God Almighty are being arrested. Idolater King desires to make the entire people idolaters with force. If his people came to know about us, either they will slay all of us by stoning or turn us back to their religion i.e. idol-worshipping. If it happened so; then there will be neither any place for us and nor any form of our prosperity in future. Our prosperity is in it that we should believe that only one God, Allah Almighty is our Lord, and we should adore Him only, and we should never have any expectation from any other save Him.

Such kind of Belief is required. Those companions did never forget their Lord in any condition whether they were sleeping or waking, in confusion or difficulty. They considered that belief in a plurality of God was the greatest adversity.
