Commentary
Hafaf-Naa – (We had
surrounded), this word is in past
tense from haff. Haffun means “to surround, to encircle”
If the mankind understand it
carefully that which benefits and facilities he has been enjoying in this world,
those entire have been bestowed by Allah Almighty. He should not be careless from
the Beneficent at the time of reaping advantage from them and be thankful to
Him every time. Then he will be successful in both worlds i.e. this life and
the life after death. After that, it is necessary to know that “how should he
thank God Almighty?” Allah Almighty has fulfilled also this necessity of the
mankind by sending His last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be
upon him) along with His Manifest last Scripture that as They cause to
understand him, he should live in the world according to Their Commands. In
this way, he can thank That Real Benefactor and can become His accepted slave.
The same subject has been explained
in Holy Qur’an at various places differently. It is being commanded to
the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) in this verse:
You should describe the similitude of two men to these people so that it may be
cleared upon them that “what is the result of God’s disobedience?” Its
similitude is that “Allah Almighty assigned two gardens of grapes unto one of
them which had been surrounded with date-palms and place for tillage between
them was also available. The gardens were very fruitful and abundant wealth had
been coming unto him from all around.
