The Provider of the Provision

Chapter “SABAA’” - (Saba) - 34

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

Commentary

The same condition was of the people of Makkah at that time which is of such people of the present time who have been involved in worldly matters. They used to praise Allaah Almighty, believe in His Power and were convinced of His Authority, but along with Him; they used to accept others too as His partners. They used to produce religious offerings before the idols and say: these will intercede for our work in the Court of Allaah Almighty.

In this verse, the people of Makkah and those who have false notions like them are being caused to understand: Use your sense and think! Who makes arrangements for your provision and Who provides the things for your rest and relief? It is apparent that none other has any power to provide all required things save Allaah Almighty.

It is commanded: If you ask from them that Who gives them provision, it is clear that they will be confounded from your question, because when the idols did not exist, (adoration of idols was invented in Arab later on) notwithstanding abundant provision was given similarly to them. Therefore, you should remind them: Everything is being bestowed by Allaah Almighty and you also have faith in it. But the difference among you and us is that we do not ascribe the idols as plurality to Allaah Almighty, whereas you make His partners to whom you desire. It is obvious that both parties cannot be true. Now either you are on the right path or we, either you have gone astray or we, and this is such depravity which is visible very clearly.

Listen! Think about your Future. You will not be asked concerning our wrong deeds and nor we shall be asked of your conduct. Every individual from our both parties will be responsible of personal deeds.
