Commentary

Many of such human beings exist in the world who disbelieve in Allaah Almighty because if they believe; they have to obey His Commandments and have to subject their will to the Will of Allaah Almighty. It is very painful for them because in this connection they have to prevent themselves from doing such works; in which they still have opportunity in the presence of wealth, health and strength to acquire immediate pleasure or to be famous among those who are equal to their status or just now they can reap financial advantage. In Arab such kind of people did exist.

In this verse, it has been commanded about all of them: Some people have decided that they would not believe in Allaah Almighty. After that, it is manifest that they will not believe in this Qur’an or other heavenly Scriptures sent down before it.

It is commanded: We do not desire to give them in the world any such thing by force. However We describe them clearly that they will be tormented very severely on the Day of Resurrection. O Our Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him): If you ever observe their condition of that time, you will see a strange spectacle. Some of them are intoxicated in their present state and some in their wealth. They do not think about their end. But on that Day, they all will be standing in hands tied position before their Real Lord and God; and accusing one another. The weak people will curse and reproach the strong people and say: You caused us also to be drowned along with yourselves.
