If his shirt is torn from the front, then she speaketh truth and he is of the

Commentary
Joseph (peace be
upon him) made a clear statement: It is she who wants to entrap me in evil by
behaving deceitfully and trying to persuade me. I saved myself by running away.
And a witness from the folk of that woman testified that Joseph (peace be upon
him) was not a sinner. He said: Behold the shirt of Joseph (peace be upon him)!
If it is torn from the front then it is clear that face of Joseph (peace be
upon him) was toward the woman. She pulled His skirt to wish to side Him. In
this form the woman is truthful.
But if the skirt is
torn from behind, then it is obvious that Joseph (peace be upon him) was
running away from her, and when she pulled it, it was torn. In such condition,
Joseph (peace be upon him) is quite true.
Aziz (the Agent of the
King of) Egypt had already understood from strong speech of Joseph (peace be upon
him), unusual preparation and adornment of the woman, running of Joseph in
front and race of the woman behind Him; that she was guilty.
