Commentary
‘Ista-‘iz – (Seek refuge!), it is a word
of command from ‘isti-‘aazatun, which has been derived from ‘awz.
Meanings of the both words (‘Awz and ‘isti-‘aazatun), are “to
seek refuge”. But verbally and heartily, it is recited ‘A-‘uuzu Billaahi
minash-Shaytaanir-Rajiim (I seek refuge in Allah from Satan the Outcast).
The same has been commanded in this verse.
Allah
Almighty commands: Satan prevents mankind from heartily reciting Holy Qur’an and reflecting on its meanings
because he does not want that human being may acquire Belief and begin to do
good works. Therefore, when you begin to recite Noble Qur’an, you should draw
your attention unto Allah Almighty and request Him “O Allah! Save me from tricks
and ambush of Satan, the outcast”, and say with your tongue also “‘A-‘uuzu Billaahi minash-Shaytaanir-Rajiim (I seek
refuge in Allah from Satan the Outcast)”. If you will turn your attention unto
Him wholeheartedly, put your trust in Him and recite Holy Qur’an by having regard to its meanings, then Satan will not be
able to mislead you, because Satan has no power over those who believe, who put
their trust in Allah Almighty, who give their entire works in His charge, who ask
Him for help and who seek refuge in Him. Otherwise, Satan, the outcast does
never miss any chance of mischief. Sometimes, he says: O man! What will you get
by reciting Qur’an? Are there not
sufficient works to do that you waste your time in it? (Let us flee to God).
Sometimes he misguides: It is neither the Word of Allah, nor Allah exists and
nor is His any Messenger or Word. (We seek refuge in Allah).
