Quran Chapter 16  91 (Pt-14, Stg-3) (L-1755) درس قرآن

Breaking covenant is against the justice

Suratun-Nahl - (The Bee) - 16

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

91.  Fulfill the Covenant of Allah when ye have covenanted, and break not your oaths after the asseveration of them, and after ye have made Allah surety over you. Lo! Allah knoweth what ye do.
91.  Wa  ‘awfuu  bi-‘AhDillaahi  ‘izaa  ‘aahattum  wa  laa  tanqu-zul-‘aymaana  ba’-da  tawkiidi-haa  wa  qad  ja-‘altu-mUllaaha  ‘alaykum  kafiilaa.  ‘InnAllaaha  ya’-lamu  maa  taf-‘aluun.

Human beings can be improving at that time; when those moral principles in mutual matters are practiced strictly; which have been described to them. From those principles, one is fulfillment of mutual agreement. This bad habit had become prevalent in Arab that when someone used to accomplish his desire, he used to compromise with any other and covenant by the name of God Almighty that “We mutually shall abide by such terms which have been settled among us”. Then, if he used to consider that treaty with any other powerful folk was more suitable, he used to break the covenant without hesitation; made with the first, and similarly he used to asseverate with the other by making Allah surety over himself.

Holy Qur’an warns that if you did not fulfill your treaties mutually then untrustworthiness would spread in the world and collective life would become disunited. When you use the name of Allah during making covenants and say to one another that “we shall never do against that which we have been saying now” then what does it mean that you break your mutual agreements? Do you consider that Allah Almighty is Unaware of your works? If you think so then you are ignorant. God Almighty knows well your entire works. You should fulfill such covenant which did you make on the surety of His name, otherwise He will punish you. Breaking the treaty after making it is against the justice.
