Commentary
Tafaqqada – (to seek, to take attendance), this word
is in Past Tense from tafaqqadun, which has been derived from faq-dun.
Faq-dun means “to lose, to hide”. Tafaqqadun means “to search the
lost, to examine, to take attendance”.
Sultaanun – (reasonable cause, valid, strong
argument), it is from saltun, which means “to get the upper hand, to
obtain the mastery over”.
Makasa – (stayed), a word muksin, came out from the same origin,
exists in the last Section of Surah Banii
‘Israaa-‘iil.
It is commanded: Prophet Solomon (peace be upon him) took
attendance of the birds. Hoopoe was found absent. He (peace be upon him) said:
Why is he absent? I shall give him severe punishment or slaughter him; if he
does not describe any suitable and acceptable reason of his absence. But the hoopoe stayed not long, reached very soon and
said, "I have encompassed in knowledge that which you have not encompassed.
I have come to you from Sheba Country which is a part of Yemen. I have brought certain
News concerning the circumstances and people of that Estate. This News will
astonish you after hearing.
