Commentary
Quruun – (the generations), this word is plural of qarnun,
which means “a long period of nearly 100 to 120 years”. Here it aims “the
people who used to live during ancient times”.
Pharaoh heard from Moses and Aaron (peace be upon them). Sayings
were clear. There was no reason of denying. At such times, the people; who do
not believe in Allaah Almighty; seek pretences of disbelieving. Pharaoh also
did the same. He said: Many people came in this world before us and died. What
did happen with them and what was spoiled of them who disbelieved in your Lord?
Moses (peace be upon him) said: Mind your own business. Allaah
Almighty is Aware of their entire circumstances. Everything has been recorded and
saved with Him. Neither Allaah Almighty errs and nor forgets. Talk about
yourself! Do you have faith that Allaah Almighty is The Lord or
otherwise? Behold! He has appointed the earth like a spacious bed for you and
entire living beings, so that they may move hither and thither, sit and stand comfortably.
Moreover, He made paths for going to and coming from everywhere, by means of which;
after crossing the mountains, rives, abysses and seas etc, one can go wherever
he desires and gain one’s end.
