Commentary
Gashiyahum-minal-yammi
maa gashiyahum – it aims that “the waves of the Sea took them into their cover
from all around and they were immersed very badly”.
Most apparent thing of the human history is that as soon as the
powerful people find any chance, they seize the subordinate people. It has been
caused to understand in Holy Qur’an that it is the biggest reason of the
destruction of human beings. It exemplified about Pharaoh and described: Moses
(peace be upon him) tried his best to reprove him with mildness but he did not
understand.
It is commanded: We commanded Moses (peace be upon him) by means
of inspiration that he should take away the Children of Israel by night and
carry them out from Egypt. The Red Sea will come in the way. He (peace be upon
him) should strike his staff on the water of the Sea, then the water will be
dispersed and a dry way for their crossing of the Sea will appear. And he
(peace be upon him) should not fear that Pharaoh will follow and arrest them or
cause them to be drowned. Behold! What did appear by the Power of Allaah
Almighty. He commanded to the Sea: Give way to the Children of Israel. Pharaoh
also followed them and when he saw the way in the Sea, he; along with his Army;
got down in the Sea. The Children of Israel crossed the Sea but for Pharaoh and
his Army, the Sea changed into its original form. And the dashing of the waves
drowned all of them by taking them into their cover. Then it is commanded:
Pharaoh led his people astray, and he did not guide them. At least, as he was
drowned, the people of his folk were also drowned.
