They follow only their own desires

Chapter “Qasas”- (The Story) - 28

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.

 (I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

قَالُوا۟ سِحْرَانِ تَظَٰهَرَا وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا بِكُلٍّ كَٰفِرُونَ 48b  قُلْ فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَٰبٍ مِّنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ هُوَ أَهْدَىٰ مِنْهُمَآ أَتَّبِعْهُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ 49  فَإِن لَّمْ يَسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لَكَ فَٱعْلَمْ أَنَّمَا يَتَّبِعُونَ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ 50a 

                                                

48b.  They say: Two magics that support each other; and they say: Lo! in both we are disbelievers. 49.  Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Then bring a Scripture from the Presence of Allah that giveth clearer guidance than these two (that) I may follow it, if ye are truthful. 50a.  Then if they answer thee not, then know that what they follow is their lusts.

48b.  Qaaluu  sihraani  tazaaharaa.  Wa  qaaluuu  ‘innaa  bikullin  kaafiruun. 49.  Qul  fa’tuu  bi-Kitaabim-min  ‘inDillaahi  huwa  ‘ahdaa  minhumaaa  ‘attabi’-hu  ‘in-  kuntum  saadiqiin. 50a.  Fa-‘illam  yastajiibuu  laka  fa’-lam  ‘annamaa  yattabi-‘uuna  ‘ahwaaa-‘ahum.

Commentary

It is commanded: Now they say! We had believed in the Messenger-hood of Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) when he would have shown us Miracles like Moses (peace be upon him), and he would have produced the entire Scripture before us all at once like Torah.

But these are the same people who falsified Moses (peace be upon him) after looking the Miracles from him and descending of Torah collectively all at once. They say: Qur’an and Torah (both) are two works of magic, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and Moses (peace be upon him) (both) are magicians who support each other. We do not believe in anyone of the both.

O Our Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him): Say to them the last word: Give up making excuses! If you really do not believe in anyone of them, then now; you should bring forth any such Scripture sent by Allaah Almighty; which may guide the mankind in a better way than them. I am ready to follow that what you will bring forth. If even then, they remain silent instead of responding, then you should understand that they are not in search of the Truth. They only follow their own desires.
