him and his hosts, and cast them unto the sea. Behold the nature of the
consequence for evildoers!

to follow them in this world, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be

Commentary
‘A-‘immatan – (patterns, leaders), this word is plural
of Imaam (a Spiritual Guide, to whom the people imitate and follow).
‘Al-maqbuuhiina – (the hateful, the despised),
it is plural of maqbuuh, which is (gram.) the Passive Participle and has
been derived from qabah. Qabah and Qabaahat mean “badness,
depravity). Maqbuuh means “fallen into worse condition”.
It is commanded: Rebellion and insurrection of Pharaoh and his
disciples was not of their use. We caught him and his flatterers and threw them into the sea, so that other people may
behold how the end of the wrongdoers and the oppressors was. We bestowed them
wealth, power and dignity. They had a big influence. The people used to obey
them. If they desired, they could guide the people towards the straight path,
but they bent into the crookedness, involved in wicked deeds, gripped up their
loins on oppressing and obstinacy; and committed such works, punishment of which
is the Hell, and they drove other people also on the path of the Hell by their
influence. Although they found their supporters in this world, but on the Day
of Resurrection; they will not find any helper. Even in this world too; the
people will curse them constantly. And on the Day of Resurrection, they shall
be among the despised, the distressed and the afflicted certainly.
