Summary of the Chapter 37

In this Chapter, after drawing attention towards the management of the world, it has been described that by meditating in its arrangements, it appears that Command of God Almighty has been working in its every part. The mankind should bow before Him and worship only Him. One part of this management is it that He appointed His Prophets (Peace be upon them) for the guidance of human beings and sent His Scriptures in the world. That was based on fact which was caused to understand to the mankind by the Prophets (Peace be upon them) and that was entirely truth which was mentioned in the Inspirational Books that; when God Almighty will desire, He will send His last Prophet (ﷺ) along with a last Scripture for perfection of mankind’s guidance, in which all useful matters for the mankind will be explained. And special arrangements will be made for the safety of that Holy Book.

 Accordingly, when that time came, the Angels (Peace be upon them) lined up anew for listening to the commandments of God Almighty. They rebuked and drove away the evil spirits and began to recite and remember by heart the Word of God Almighty, so that it may be conveyed as it is; where it is required to be conveyed. They drove off the Devils by beating, so that there must remain no risk of amendment in those Commandments. Believe it that there can be no other God of you save One - God Almighty. Only He is the Supporter of the heavens and the earth, Owner of the East and the West. He is Who decorated the sky of the world with the stars. Those stars are also used for driving away the refractory devils. And burning stars are thrown behind that Devil who flies away with anything stealthily, which destroy or drive him off.

 O mankind: Give up haughtiness! You have been created from a drop of water. Why do you forget your reality? Remember it that you will be brought back to life again after death; you will be punished and thrown into the Fire of the Hell due to your wicked deeds or given reward of your good deeds and sent into the Garden. That Day of Resurrection will be the Day of Misfortunes for you. Evildoers will grieve and good doers will find ease and peace.

 After that, attractive sketch of the Paradise has been drawn and frightful scene of the Hell has been disclosed. After the mention of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Aaron, Elias, Lot and Jonah from some Prophets (Peace be upon them), it has been described that they all deserved the Mercy of God Almighty. Peace and salutations will be sent upon them always in the world. The people, who disobeyed them, were punished. So you must take warning from their circumstances. You should make neither daughters of God Almighty to the Angels; and nor His relatives to the Jinn. This is a great insolence. They all are slaves and obedient of God Almighty.

 Remember! At last Our Prophets (Peace be upon them) will be successful and their enemies will be ruined; not only in this world but in the Hereafter too. Listen! God (God Almighty) is free from all flaws. He is Owner of the entire excellences. His all Prophets (Peace be upon them) will always be in Peace.

The Punishment in the Hereafter

(L-2785)

وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ 178   وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ 179   سُبْحَٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ 180   وَسَلَٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ 181   وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ 182

178.  Wa  tawalla  ‘anhum  hattaa  hiin. 179.  Wa  ‘absir  fasawfa yubsiruun. 180.  Subhaana  Rabbika  Rabbil-‘Izzati  ‘ammaa  yasifuun. 181.  Wa  Salaamun  ‘alal-mursaliin. 182.  Wal-Hamdu  Lillaahi  Rabbil-‘Aalamiin. (Section – 5/9)

178. So avoid them for a while. 179. And watch—they will soon see. 180. Exalted be your Lord, the Lord of Glory, beyond their allegations. 181. And peace be upon the messengers. 182. And praise be to God, the Lord of the Worlds.

It was commanded earlier: These people will not find any good fruit by denying and turning away from Islam, the religion which has been prescribed by God Almighty for the mankind. Very soon they will be given severe punishment of their infidelity and denial. It was commanded to the Messenger (ﷺ): Say to them nothing presently and let them do whatever they wish to do. We have decided that at last Our Prophets (Peace be upon them) only will be successful. And eventually Our obedient and followers will overcome. These people are entirely ignorant if they make haste in demanding Our torment. When Our torment will come upon them then they will be confused very much.

 It was concerning the torment of the world. Therefore, the battles began after a few days, the disbelievers were destroyed and Islam got victory. The torment which has been mentioned again in these verses, that is a signal towards the torment of the Day of Resurrection, that is to say, besides destruction, disgrace and humiliation in the world, they will be punished severely after death too due to their wicked deeds. And if they died as disbelievers then besides the world, they will be suffering from severe afflictions on the Day of Judgment also.

 After that it is commanded: God Almighty is entirely above that whatever these people describe concerning Him because He is Glorified. His peace and blessings descend upon the Messengers. Praise be to Allaah, Who is Lord, Protector of the Universe and Provider of all necessary things to every necessitous.

Prediction of Punishment

Prediction of Punishment (L-2784)

فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ 174   وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ 175   أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ 176   فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ 177

174.  Fatawalla  ‘anhum  hatta  hiin.  175.  Wa  ‘absirhum  fasawfa  yubsiruun.  176.  ‘A-fa-bi-‘azaabiNaa  yasta’-jiluun.  177.  Fa-‘izaa  nazala  bisaahatihim  fasaaa-‘a  sabaahul-munzariin.

174. So disregard them for a while. 175. And watch them—they will soon see. 176. Are they seeking to hasten Our punishment? 177. When it descends into their yard, miserable will be the morning of those forewarned.

It is commanded: These people do not use common sense. The matter is the same which We already have described. Consequence of denying God Almighty, His Messenger (ﷺ) and His Scripture will be very bad. O Our Prophet (ﷺ)! Leave them for a time and see without saying any word that what befalls them. Within a few days they will find result of their disobedience. Their airs will be useless. Our Messenger (ﷺ) and those who got ready for Our obedience, will get victory. Islam will prevail. Either its enemies will not be saved or if they are saved for some days then either eventually they will embrace Islam or they will be exiled. Alas! They did not rouse by such menace from ignorance. Possibly some of them would have said: Then what is delay in coming of torment. The mankind is very careless and proud more than enough. He brags and slights all others.

 It is commanded: Do they want Our punishment in a hurry? Say to them: When Our torment will descend on you suddenly; then you will be in worst condition. Those people do not care who are being threatened now.

 This prediction was fulfilled as it was informed. Some disbelievers were slain in the Battle of Badr. After that it was finalized in the Victory of Makkah.

Troops of God will be victors

Troops of God will be victors (L-2783)

وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَيَقُولُونَ 167   لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًا مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ 168   لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ 169   فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ 170   وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ 171   إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ ٱلْمَنصُورُونَ 172   وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلْغَٰلِبُونَ 173

167.  Wa  ‘in  kaanuu  la-yaquuluuna.  168.  Law  ‘anna  ‘indanaa  Zikram-minal-‘awwaliin.  169.  Lakunnaa  ‘IbaadAllaahil-mukhlasiin.  170.  Fakafaruu  bihii  fasawfa  ya’-lamuun.  171.  Wa  laqad  sabaqat  Kalimatu-Naa  li-‘IbaadiNal-mursaliin.  172.  ‘Innahum  lahumul-man-suuruun.  173.  Wa  ‘inna  jundaNaa  la-humul- gaalibuun.

167. Even though they used to say. 168. “Had we received advice from the ancients. 169. We would have been God's faithful servants.” 170. But they rejected it, so they will find out. 171. Our Word has already gone out to our servant messengers. 172. It is they who will be supported. 173. And Our troops will be the victors.

Now the state of the people of Makkah is being described. When they used to hear; the circumstances of ancient Prophets (Peace be upon them); from the Jews and the Christians, they used to say: Would that any Prophet had come to us along with any Scripture, we would have improved ourselves more than all other people of the world and become chosen slaves of God Almighty.

 It is commanded: The disbelievers used to say: if we had been informed about such good matters which were conveyed to ancient people, we would have obeyed the commandments of God Almighty and achieved good rewards like chosen slaves of God Almighty. But when Our Messenger (ﷺ) came among them along with explained circumstances of old people; then they denied. Now they will undergo punishment of their declining. We already have decided in favor of Our Prophets (Peace be upon them) that they will be successful and ultimately their enemies will lose. Honor and superiority will only be for them who will toil for Us and who will remain as Our obedient.

None of the Angels can cross the line

None of the Angels can cross the line (L-2782)

إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ 163   وَمَا مِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُومٌ 164   وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلصَّآفُّونَ 165   وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَ 166

163.  ‘Illaa  man  huwa  saalil-Jahiim.  164.  Wa  maa  minnaaa  ‘illaa  lahuu  maqaamum-  ma’-luum.  165.  Wa  ‘innaa  lanahnus-saaaffuun.  166.  Wa  ‘innaa  lanahnul-musabbihuun.

163. Except for he who will be roasting in Hell. 164. “There is not one of us but has an assigned position. 165. And we are the arrangers. 166. And we are the glorifiers.”

It is commanded: You and your false gods can neither deceive and nor lead astray anyone from the Path of God Almighty, but only that unfortunate person will have to go to the Hell anyhow due to personal wicked deeds; in whose  luck the Hell has been written. Such person will certainly come in deception of the Devils whose temper of mind has been spoiled. Any Jinn or Satan have no power to misguide any good natured person; to whom God Almighty has chosen.

 It was the condition of the Jinn. Now let us hear from the Angels (Peace be upon them) that what do they say. The great Angel Gabriel (Peace be upon him) brings Divine Revelation, so it has been caused to say by him: Every Angel from us remains in a limit which has been determined by God Almighty. None of us can cross the line. We all stand with tied hands in rows at our places. Everyone waits to hear the Command of God Almighty for fulfilling it immediately. Entire Angels praise to God Almighty by their tongues and acts every time. We do not do any work without the Command of God Almighty. Neither we say any word to any individual at our own and nor we help anyone.

 While entire Jinn and Angels are helpless before God Almighty then how can they interfere in His Divinity? It is entirely wrong to say that the Jinn are relatives of God (Let us flee to Him) and that the Angels are His daughters.

Power of the Jinn?

Power of the Jinn? (L-2781)

 

وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ ٱلْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ 158b   سُبْحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ 159   إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ 160 فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ 161   مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَٰتِنِينَ 162

158b.  Wa  laqad  ‘alimatil-Jinnatu  ‘innahum  la-muhzaruun.  159.  SubhaanAllaahi  ‘ammaa  yasifuun.  160.  ‘Illaa  ‘IbaadAllaahil-mukhlasiin.  161.  Fa-‘innakum  wa  maa  ta’-buduun.  162.  Maaa  ‘antum  ‘alayhi  bi-faatiniina.

158b.  But the jinn know that they will be arraigned. 159. God be glorified, far above what they allege. 160. Except for God’s sincere servants. 161. Surely, you and what you serve. 162. Cannot seduce away from Him.

 Faatiniina – (those who tempt someone away, seducers), this word is plural of faatin, which is the Subject and plural from fatan. Fitnah means “to lead astray”. Here it aims the same.

The people of Arab used to have faith that the Jinn were very powerful creature. They used to consider that the Jinn can trouble, confuse and lead astray to whom they desire. They had belief that the Angels were the children of the Jinn but instead of molesting others, they were doers of good. On account of such ill-founded thoughts, they used to say that the Jinn were from the family of father-in-law of God Almighty and the Angels were His daughters (Let us flee to God). This verse refutes the same nonsense.

 It is commanded: it is the state of the Jinn that they know very well that they will be seized and brought in the Court of God Almighty like criminals, will be punished due to their wicked deeds, and whatever you say concerning them; is entirely wrong. God Almighty is glorified from all such matters which you relate to Him. He begets not nor was He begotten. All are His slaves. Entire such people will come before Him duly seized who will disobey His Commandments. Only those people will be saved who are His chosen slaves. Say to these refractory people! You and your so-called gods do not have any power that they may lead astray to any slave of God Almighty. Possessor and Master of all powers and forces is only God Almighty. There is none who may deliver to anyone good or bad, benefit or harm. Everything is under His control.

Do you have some clear proof?

Nonsense (L-2780)

 

مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ 154   أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ 155   أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَٰنٌ مُّبِينٌ 156  فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَٰبِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ 157   وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا 158a

154.  Maa  lakum.  Kayfa  tahkumuun.  155.  ‘Aflaa  tazakkaruun.  156.  ‘Am  lakum  sultaanum-mubiin.  157.  Fa’-tuu  bi-Kitaabikum  ‘in kuntum  saadiqiin. 158a.  Wa  ja-‘aluu  baynahuu  wa  baynal-Jinnati  nasabaa.

154. What is the matter with you? How do you judge? 155. Will you not reflect? 156. Or do you have some clear proof? 157. Then bring your book, if you are telling the truth. 158a. And they invented a relationship between Him and the jinn.

 

It is commanded: What is wrong with you that you talk nonsense? Why do you not use your reason? What is basis of your decision that God has children and those children are His daughters? Neither reason admits it, nor there is any such credential and nor God Almighty Himself has informed about it. Then how did you think so? Have you any proof in the form of any Inspired Scripture in this connection? Have you any such Book of God in which this doctrine has been taught? Produce it if you have; so that we too may see that what has been written in it; from which you inferred this result. The matter, which cannot be understood by the reason, can never be known without guidance from God Almighty. He describes concerning Unseen matters by means of sending His Prophets (Peace be upon them). Such thing cannot be admitted without clear Command of God Almighty which cannot be described by the human sense. Names and Epithets of God Almighty can be only those which He has described to the mankind by means of His last Messenger (ﷺ) and the last Scripture. Credential of all such things are the Word of God and the Sayings of the Prophet (ﷺ) i.e. The Day of Resurrection, Angels, Heaven and Hell, Pul-Sirat (A Straight Bridge) (According to Muslims’ belief a Bridge over which the righteous will pass to heaven), reward and punishment. Now if you consider that you are true, then you must produce any Commandment of God Almighty and Saying of His Prophet (ﷺ) in its corroboration, otherwise you should repent from such false belief.

 

After that it is commanded: If they are asked: How God has children without wedding? Then they say (God forbid): He is the son-in-law of the Jinn (I entreat forgiveness of God). He was married with the females of the Jinn, from whom daughters were born, who are the same Angels.

Lying by the Infidels

Warning for the disbelievers (L-2779)

فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ 149   أَمْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَٰثًا وَهُمْ شَٰهِدُونَ 150   أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ 151   وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ 152   أَصْطَفَى ٱلْبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلْبَنِينَ 153

149.  Fastaftihim  ‘ali-Rabbikal-ba-naatu  wa  lahumul-banuun.  150.  ‘Am  khalaqNal-malaaa-‘ikata  ‘inaasanw-wa  hum  shaahiduun.  151.  ‘Alaaa  ‘innahum-min  ‘ifkihim  layaquuluuna.  152.  WaladAllaahu  wa  ‘innahum  lakaazibuun.  153.  ‘Astafal-banaati  ‘alal-baniin.

149. Ask them, “Are the daughters for your Lord, while for them the sons?” 150. Or did We create the angels females, as they witnessed?” 151. No indeed! It is one of their lies when they say. 152. “God has begotten.” They are indeed lying. 153. So He preferred girls over boys?

 ‘Inaasun – (females, women), this word is plural of ‘unsaa, which means “a woman, a female”. ‘Unsaa is an Adjective from ‘unsun which means “weakness, looseness”.

‘Istafaa – (Has He chosen, has He preferred), it is in the Past Tense.

It was described earlier that God Almighty sent His Prophets (Peace be upon them) for correcting faiths and deeds of the mankind who informed: Your Creator and Protector is only One - God Almighty. It is compulsory for you that you should not worship any other than Him.

After causing to hear the circumstances of some Prophets (Peace be upon them) from them, it is commanded: Ask from these people of Arab: What this false thought have you set up concerning God Almighty that the Angels (Peace be upon them) are His descendants and those entire are His daughters? What a violence is it that at first; you tried to prove children for Him and then even daughters not sons; to whom you yourselves do not like?

Ask from them: Do you admit it that for God must be daughters and for you must be sons? Were you looking when God Almighty created the Angels that whether they are females not males? Listen! At first your such thought is entirely wrong that there are children of God. Moreover, saying this is extra injustice that the Angels are His descendants and they are females because God Almighty liked daughters instead of sons.
