48.  Wazkur ‘Ismaa-‘iila  wal-Yasa-‘a  wa  Zal-Kifl.  Wa  Kullum-minal-‘Akhyaar.

49.  Haazaa  Zikr.  Wa  ‘inna  lil-Muttaqiina  la-husna  ma-‘aan.

50.  Jannaati  ‘Adnim-mufat-tahatal-lahumul-  ‘abwaab.

51.  Muttaki-‘iina  fiihaa  yad-‘uuna  fiihaa  bifaakiharin-  kasiiratinw-wa  sharaab.

52.  Wa  ‘indahum  qaasiraatut-tarfi  ‘atraab.

48. And mention Ishmael, Elisha, and Ezekiel; all are among the outstanding.

49. This is a reminder. The devout will have a good place of return.

50. The Gardens of Eden, with their doors wide-open for them.

51. Relaxing therein, and calling for abundant fruit and beverage.

52. With them will be attendants with modest gaze, of same age.

It is commanded: Remember also from the old Prophets, Ishmael, Elisha and Dhu-‘l-Kifl (Peace be upon them). All of them are among the outstanding. Mention of Ishmael and Elisha has passed in Suratul-‘An-‘aam and Dhu-‘l-Kifl was mentioned in Suratul-‘Ambiaa.

After that, it is commanded: Remember their circumstances. They entire were Prophets (Peace be upon them), and certainly by remembering their circumstances, we will be able after all to understand good attributes, and love of adopting good manners will increase.

Next, hear the circumstances of those who followed the Prophets (Peace be upon them) and bowed down before God Almighty. Due to having fear of His torment they refrained from wicked deeds. Such people are called pious. There are good abodes ready for their dwelling, which are palaces constructed in the Gardens, doors of which will be opened on the Day of Resurrection. After knowing about their individual abodes, they will enter into them unhesitatingly and without any resistance. Pillows on coaches will be set and ready. Reclining within them, they will call therein for abundant fruit and drink, which will be produced before them without any delay. And with them will be women limiting their glances and of equal age. https://youtu.be/cfMQAHCokVY

Other selected people

Other selected people (L-2809)

45.  Wazkur ‘IbaadaNaaa  ‘Ibraa-hiima  wa  ‘Is-haaqa  wa  Ya’-quuba  ‘Ulil-‘Aydii  wal- ‘Absaar.

46.  ‘Innaaa  ‘akhlas-Naahum-  bi-khaalistain  Zikrad-Daar.

47.  Wa  ‘innahum  ‘indaNaa  laminal- Mustafaynal-‘akhyaar.

45. And mention Our servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—endowed with ability and vision.

46. We distinguished them with a distinct quality: the remembrance of the Home.

47. To Us they are among the chosen, the outstanding.

Khaalisatan – (an exclusive quality, a pure thought),

Mustafayn – (the chosen, of the elect), this word is plural of Mustafaa, which is the Passive Participle from ‘istafaa.

‘Al-‘akhyaar – (the outstanding, the excellent), it is plural of khayrun, which is an Adjective. It means “the thing which has much goodness in it”.

‘Ulil-‘Aydii – (men of great might, strong and religious, endowed with ability),

‘Ulil - ‘Absaar – (endowed with vision, those who know the Creator by looking His creature).

It is commanded: Remember Abraham, Isaac and Jacob from ancient Prophets (Peace be upon them). Strength of the heart increases by reading their circumstances. They did not forget God Almighty even after being entangled in afflictions and used their physical strength in full scale for acting upon the Commandments of God Almighty. They observed with their eyes Signs of the Divine Power spreading in the heavens and in the earth, and strengthened their Belief. We had bestowed to them such special thing that they might not forget the Day of Resurrection after being involved in worldly matters. This is such important matter; by which the mankind can dwell in the world peacefully and can get success in every field of life. These people are from Our slaves and their way of life is the best. https://youtu.be/nI9aoK1HiPc

Job got everything again

Job got everything again (L-2808)

43.  Wa  wahabNaa  lahuuu  ‘ahlahuu  wa  mislahum-ma-‘ahum  Rah-matam-min-Naa  wa  zikraa  li-‘Ulil-‘albaab.

44.  Wa  khuz  biyadika  zigsan  fazrib-bihii  wa  laa  tahnas.  ‘Innaa  wajadNaahu  saabiraa.  Ni’-mal-‘Abd.  ‘Innahuuu  ‘awwaab.

43. And We restored his family for him, and their like with them; as a mercy from Us, and a lesson for those who possess insight.

44. “Take with your hand a bundle, and strike with it, and do not break your oath.” We found him patient. What an excellent servant! He was obedient.

Zigsan – (a bunch of grass, a bundle, a handful of twigs).

Laa  tahnas – (do not break your oath), that is to say, you must fulfill your oath.

It is commanded: When he (Peace be upon him) inclined towards Us, We healed him and gave him other members of his family at the place of those who died due to demolition of his house including equal to the same number, more members, by Our kindness, and his house filled up with double than earlier members.

Prophet Job (Peace be upon him) swore due to being in anger during the state of his sickness that if he recovered from disease, he would beat his wife with one hundred sticks. She used to serve him alone in his sickness and she did not commit any big mistake. When God Almighty cured him, then fulfilling of his oath became compulsory. God Almighty felt pity on his wife and described the form of fulfilling of the oath to Job (Peace be upon him), “Take in your hand a bunch of grass and strike your wife with it and do not break your oath”. This concession was particularly for him only. Other people cannot reap advantage from it.

It is commanded: We found him (Peace be upon him) enduring. He was a servant worthy of admiration and praise who used to turn and pay attention towards Us in all conditions and every time. God Almighty has special mercy on such kind of slaves who are devoted to Him, and He saves them from every calamity. https://youtu.be/MIBv7T8gHuM

Job (Peace be upon him)

Job (Peace be upon him) (L-2807)

41.  Wazkur  ‘abdaNaaa  ‘Ayyuub.  ‘Iz  naadaa  Rabbahuuu  ‘annii  massani-yash-Shaytaanu  bi-nusbinw-wa  ‘azaab.

42.  ‘Urkuz  birijlik.  Haazaa  mugtasalum-  baaridunw-wa  sharaab.

41. And mention Our servant Job, when he called out to his Lord, “Satan has afflicted me with hardship and pain.”

42. “Stamp with your foot—here is cool water to wash with, and to drink.”

‘Urkuz – {Strike (the ground)}, it is a word of Command from the word rakzun, which means “striking with heel”.

Mugtasala – (water for taking bath), nusbun – (distress, hardship).

Disbelievers of Makkah afflicted Muhammad, the Messenger of God Almighty () very much. For his consolation, circumstances of ancient Prophets (Peace be upon them) are caused to hear from time to time everywhere by which it appears that they too suffered and underwent troubles in various ways, but they worked patiently in all conditions and did not seek help from any other save God Almighty.

In this verse, the attention is drawn again towards the story of Prophet Job (Peace be upon him). He was entangled in various afflictions. He was a rich but became poor. His house was destroyed, save one wife; all the members of household were buried and died. He had been suffering from a very serious and dangerous disease. At last he called to his Lord: Satan does not let me dwell alone. He tries to spoil my belief while I have been entangled in trouble. He misguides the people that they should spread evil thoughts concerning me, consider that I am sinner and disobedient of God Almighty. O my Lord! Save me from the attacks of Satan and heal me.

His supplication has passed in Suratul-‘Ambiaa. At last God Almighty took pity. It was commanded: Strike the ground with your foot! As soon as he struck his foot, a spring boiled up. Then it was commanded: Take bath in this spring of cool water and drink also the same water. He did according to commandment, the disease was over and then he was healthy. https://youtu.be/aGrpPHnA9FA

Kingdom of Solomon

Kingdom of Solomon (L-2806)

36.  Fasakh-kharNaa  lahur-Riihaa  tajrii  bi-‘amrihii  rukhaaa-‘an  haysu  ‘asaab.

37.  Wash-shayaatiina  kulla  ban-naaa-‘inw-wa  gawwaas.

38.  Wa  ‘akhariina  muqarra-niina  fil-‘asfaad.

39.  Haazaa  ‘Ataaa-‘uNaa  famnun  ‘aw  ‘amsik  bigayri  hisaab.

40.  Wa  ‘inna  lahuu  ‘indaNaa  lazulfaa  wa  husna  ma-‘aab. (Section 3/12)

36. So We placed the wind at his service, blowing gently by his command, wherever he directed.

37. And the demons—every builder and diver.

38. And others fettered in chains.

39. “This is Our gift; so give generously, or withhold; without account.”

40. For him is nearness to Us, and a beautiful resort.

Rukhaaa-‘an – (blowing gently), ‘Asfaad – (chains, shackles); this word is plural of safd which means “iron rings and shackles by which hands and feet of prisoners are tied”.

God Almighty accepted the prayer of Solomon (Peace be upon him), commanded to the wind that it should obey him. Therefore, he used to sit on his throne and command to the wind. It used to blow gently and carry him where he used to desire. Besides this, God Almighty subjected to him grand and heavy devils (of jinn), some of whom were builders for the work of construction, some were divers who used to bring out pearls and gems from the rivers and seas. But some devils were rebellion who were linked together in shackles.

God Almighty said to Solomon (Peace be upon him): This is Our gift, so grant or withhold without account. It is commanded: For him is nearness to Us and a good place of return in the Hereafter. Verily, such apparent kingdom was not given to any other.
