Ignorance of Mankind (L-2852) 

فَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ ضُرٌّ دَعَانَا ثُمَّ إِذَا خَوَّلْنَٰهُ نِعْمَةً مِّنَّا قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أُوتِيتُهُۥ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍۭ بَلْ هِىَ فِتْنَةٌ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ 49  قَدْ قَالَهَا ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَمَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ 50

49.  Fa-‘izaa  massal-‘insaana  zurrun  da-‘aaNaa;  summa  ‘izaa  khawwalNaahu  ni’-matam-minNaa,  qaala  ‘innamaaa  ‘uutiituhuu  ‘alaa  ‘ilmBal  hiya  fitnatunw-wa  laakinna  ‘aksara-hum  laa  ya’-lamuun. 50.  Qad  qaalahal-laziina  min  qablihim  famaaa  ‘agnaa  ‘an-hum-maa  kaanuu  yaksibuun.

49. When adversity touches the human being, he calls on Us. But then, when We favor him with a blessing from Us, he says, “I have attained this by virtue of my knowledge.” However, it is a test, but most of them do not know. 50. Those before them said it, but what they had earned did not avail them.

It seemed from previous verses that the mankind, who has been entangled in worldly matters, is reluctant to use the name of God Almighty and is pleased by other things, reason of which is that; he does not believe in the Day of Resurrection.

In this verse, there is mention of his impudence. When any adversity or calamity touches him, he forgets everything and calls upon only God Almighty. But when God Almighty bestows on him a favor from Him, then he says: It was known that I will be prosperous because I am skillful and a good planner. It was my right which is given to me.

It is commanded: O mankind! Come to your senses. God Almighty has examined you by bestowing on you prosperity. But alas! Most of the people feign ignorance or do not know. The same words were spoken by the people before them but they acquired nothing from it. When they were seized in the wrath of God Almighty; then they were helpless, lost prosperity and were ruined themselves also. One of them was Korah (Qarun), whose circumstances were discussed in Suratul-Qasas. He used to say: I have earned this wealth by my abilities. Eventually he was ruined.

The State of the Last Day (L-2851)

وَلَوْ أَنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا وَمِثْلَهُۥ مَعَهُۥ لَٱفْتَدَوْا۟ بِهِۦ مِن سُوٓءِ ٱلْعَذَابِ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ وَبَدَا لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَمْ يَكُونُوا۟ يَحْتَسِبُونَ 47   وَبَدَا لَهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتُ مَا كَسَبُوا۟ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ 48

47.  Wa  law  ‘anna  lillaziina  zalamuu  maa  fil-‘arzi  jamii-‘anw-wa  mislahuu  ma-‘ahuu  laftadaw  bihii  min-  suuu-‘il-‘azaabi  Yawmal-Qiyaamah.  Wa  badaa  lahum-minAllaahi  maa  lam  yakuunuu  yahtasibuun. 48.  Wa  badaa  lahum  sayyi-‘aatu  maa  kasabuu  wa  haaqa  bihim-maa  kaanuu  bihii  yastahzi-‘uun.

47. If those who did wrong owned everything on earth, and the like of it with it, they would redeem themselves with it from the terrible suffering on the Day of Resurrection. But there will appear to them from God what they never anticipated. 48. There will appear to them the evils of their deeds, and they will be surrounded by what they used to ridicule.

It is commanded: Those people should listen to some state of the Day of Resurrection carefully who do not believe in it. That will be such horrible Day that the wrongdoers will lose their senses after observing. If they owned everything on earth, and the like of it with it, they would redeem themselves with it from the terrible suffering on that Day. But there will appear to them from God Almighty such disasters and calamities which they had never taken into account. Their every wicked deed will come before their eyes. And they will be wrapped by what they used to ridicule the Sayings of the Messenger (ﷺ) because those will be proved true. Our Lord! Save us from disgrace of the world and the doom of the Doomsday. Manners of Idolaters (L-2850)

وَإِذَا ذُكِرَ ٱللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ ٱشْمَأَزَّتْ قُلُوبُ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْءَاخِرَةِ وَإِذَا ذُكِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِذَا هُمْ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ 45  قُلِ ٱللَّهُمَّ فَاطِرَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ عَٰلِمَ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ أَنتَ تَحْكُمُ بَيْنَ عِبَادِكَ فِى مَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ 46

45.  Wa  ‘izaa  zukirAllaahu  Wahdahush-ma-‘azzat  quluu-bullaziina  laa  yu’-minuuna  bil-Aakhirah.  Wa  ‘izaa  zukiral-laziina  min-  duuniHiii  ‘izaa  hum  yastab-shiruun. 46.  Qul-Lillaahum-ma  Faatiras-sa-maawaati  wal-‘arzi  ‘Aalimal-Gaybi  wash-Shahaadati  ‘Anta  tahkumu  bayna  ‘ibaadiKa   fii maa  kaanuu  fiihi  yakhtalifuun.

45. When God alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter shrink with resentment. But when those other than Him are mentioned, they become filled with joy. 46. Say, “Our God, Initiator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of all secrets and declarations. You will judge between your servants regarding what they had differed about.”

 We knew from previous verses that we shall be able to know God Almighty completely at that time when we shall try to understand His Attributes also carefully. If you desire to believe in God Almighty, you must believe in this way: He is Creator, Nurturer of everything and fulfills requirements of all. Last judgment is in His Hand. It is found from it that those who do not believe in the Day of Resurrection, in fact they did not believe in God Almighty. Without belief in the Day of Resurrection, one cannot conjecture correctly about Sovereignty and Power of God Almighty.

It is commanded: The people who do not admit that only God Almighty is The Ruler of the world, but they associate others too in power sharing along with God Almighty, they are entirely unaware of believing the Unity of the Deity. When it is said to them: There is none except God Almighty who may have power to do something, their hearts shrink with aversion. And when other self-made gods are mentioned instead of God Almighty, immediately they rejoice, and do not understand that it is “Belief in a plurality of God”.   

After that, it is commanded: O Our Messenger (ﷺ): Let them do their work and you must pray: Our God You are Initiator of the heavens and the earth, You are Knower of all secrets and declarations. Still they don’t recognize (L-2849)

أَمِ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ شُفَعَآءَ قُلْ أَوَلَوْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ 43  قُل لِّلَّهِ ٱلشَّفَٰعَةُ جَمِيعًا لَّهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ 44

43.  ‘Amittakhazuu  min-  duuNillaahi  shufa-‘aaa’.  Qul  ‘awa  law  kaanuu  laa  yamlikuuna  shay-‘awn-wa  laa  ya’-qiluun. 44.  Qul-Lillaahish-Shafaa-‘atu  jamii-‘aa.  LaHuu  mulkus-sa-maawaati  wal-‘arz.  Summa  ‘ilayHi  turja-‘uun.

43. Or have they chosen intercessors other than God? Say, “Even though they have no power over anything, and are devoid of reason?” 44. Say, “All intercession is up to God. To Him belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. Then to Him you will be returned.”

While life and death of everything is in the Divine Power of God Almighty, none of others can interfere in the matters of creation, birth and keeping them up in the world, then why these people incline towards others instead of God Almighty? Either they lack intellect or do not know how to use the sense properly. How can this claim of the idolaters be correct that “idols intercede for us in the Court of God Almighty and by their intercession we gain our end”? Can lifeless idols of stone, which are owners of nothing and do not understand anything, intercede for anyone?

O Messenger (ﷺ): Inform them about their mistake and say: Like other things, the matter of intercession is also subject to the Authority of God Almighty completely. Only that person can intercede; to whom God Almighty permits, and he can intercede only for them who are able near God Almighty to intercede. Neither these idols have permission of God Almighty that they can intercede, and nor these seekers of intercession who are disobedient slaves of God Almighty, are able that someone must intercede for them. Everywhere in the heavens and on the earth, Sovereignty is of God Almighty. And every individual will have to return to Him. While He is The Supreme Emperor, then what any other have any power of command and reject His Commandments?

One more Source of knowing God (L-2848)

ٱللَّهُ يَتَوَفَّى ٱلْأَنفُسَ حِينَ مَوْتِهَا وَٱلَّتِى لَمْ تَمُتْ فِى مَنَامِهَا فَيُمْسِكُ ٱلَّتِى قَضَىٰ عَلَيْهَا ٱلْمَوْتَ وَيُرْسِلُ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ 42

42.  ‘Allaahu  yatawaffal-‘anfusa  hiina  mawtihaa  wallatii  lam  tamut  fii  manaamihaa  fa-yumsikul-latii  qazaa  ‘alayhal-mawta  wa  yursilul-‘ukhraaa  ‘ilaaa  ‘ajalim-musammaa.  ‘Inna  fii  zaalika  la-‘Aayaatil-li-qawminy-yatafakkaruun.

42. God takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that have not died during their sleep. He retains those for which He has decreed death, and He releases the others until a predetermined time. In that are signs for people who reflect.

 Everything of the world is a Pattern of the Perfect Power of God Almighty. We see everywhere any of His Tokens. Thinkers observe Signs of knowing concerning God Almighty in every occurrence. From those occurrences, one great occurrence is “sleep and waking” of the mankind. Did you ever think that what is sleep and what is waking?

It is commanded: The matter of death and coming back to life again after death can be understood clearly from the occurrence of sleeping and waking again, and it proves that the Commandment about “life after death in the Hereafter” mentioned in Holy Qur’an is quite true. Behold! All effects of life appear in human body at that time when it has a connection with the soul. When mankind sleeps, his body becomes useless. It means, “God Almighty disconnects the body from the soul during sleep, but only for short time, its effect remains upon the body so much that the mankind may draw in and out the breath.

Then it is in the Power of God Almighty that whether He returns the soul into body or retains it. If it is returned, the mankind wakes up and it turns out that he has to live in the world for some more days. But if the soul is retained permanently, then it aims that the mankind went to die, that is to say, the soul has lost its effect on the body and practice of drawing the breathe in and out has been discontinued.

Found out that as and when God Almighty desires, He causes the soul to enter the body and disconnects it from the body. If the soul is retained, it aims “the death of the body”, but if it is returned, it aims “sleep”. He can set up relationship of body and soul again in both conditions as and when He desire.
