Saafinaatu – {the poised (standing) racehorses}, this word is plural of saafin. Way of knowing about a good horse is it that how much it lifts up its one foot and puts its entire weight on other thee feet.
Jiyaad – (belongs to a good race), it is plural of the word jayyad, which is an Adjective.
In the beginning, disbelievers of Makkah were reproved due to their stubbornness and obstinacy because they did neither obey the Messenger (ﷺ), nor admit that God is One. They used to say concerning God Almighty that how can He be One; management of the world is being made by several gods collectively, and concerning the Messenger that he has invented the Qur’an himself.
Now it is being warned to them: Give up such nonsense. Many strong nations were ruined due to punishment of their evil deeds like yours. You are not more powerful than them. Power and omnipotence is with God Almighty. He gives to whom He desires. Behold! How much powerful King was David (Peace be upon him)? God Almighty said to him: We have given a work in your charge. Accomplish it in accordance with Our Command.
After that it is being caused the mankind to understand: We have not created this world as mere play. Its result will come out at the end. Those people do never rebel who understand it well.
After David (Peace be upon him), his son Solomon (Peace be upon him) became King. They were very powerful but even then they used to bow before Us and spend their wealth for complying with Our Commandments. Once, fine and beautiful horses were brought before Solomon (Peace be upon him) in the evening. He was very happy and said: I like them because my Lord comes to my mind by looking them. Some commentators have recorded also that the sun had set when he was paying attention to the horses and the time of prayer had been over.
