Supplication of Solomon

Supplication of Solomon (L-2805)

35.  Qaala  Rabbigfir-lii  wa  hab  lii  Mulkal-laa  yambagii  li-‘ahadim-mim-  ba’-dii.  ‘InnaKa  ‘Antal-Wahhaab.

35. He said, “My Lord, forgive me, and grant me a kingdom never to be attained by anyone after me. You are the Giver.”

The smallest mistake of the big ones is also big, and it is informed by God Almighty immediately that it must be corrected. David (Peace be upon him) thought for awhile that he was a very powerful and great manager. Meanwhile two disputants penetrated by climbing the wall in his particular private chamber of worship; for getting his judgment in their case. At that time, he felt that he was very helpless and considered: Everything is with the help and support of God Almighty. So he turned towards Him immediately and repented. His error was forgiven and it was described to him: Reason of bestowing to you rank and grandeur is that you must not think about your desires but do justice among Our bondmen.

After that, Solomon (Peace be upon him) erred a little that he did not say by his tongue “God willing, If God please” (‘Inshaa-‘Allaah), but said with confidence, “There will be nearly one hundred sons of mine”, because at that time he was husband of about one hundred wives. Heartily he had trust in God Almighty, but forgot saying ‘Inshaa-‘Allaah by his tongue. So he was seized and none of his wives gave birth to any son. Only one incomplete son was born. The midwife brought that babe and put it on the throne. It was a lump of flesh only, as it has been described in the previous verse. He understood that without any doubt it was result of his a little carelessness. If he would have said by his tongue ‘Inshaa-‘Allaah, God Almighty would have fulfilled his desire.

He turned his attention immediately towards God Almighty and repented. It has been commanded in this verse: When his desire was not fulfilled, (his object and desire was that the sons will serve the Religion of God Almighty), then he prayed: My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me. God Almighty accepted his supplication. Accordingly, his power and government increased so much that not only one hundred sons, but even if he had one thousand son; they could not be able to promote it like this. The wind and the Jinn became his obedient. He took work of raising up the name of God Almighty from them. Some part of this description has passed in Suratus-Sabaa and some will come in forthcoming verses.
