Reason of opposing (L-2939)

كَبُرَ عَلَى ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ مَا تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَيْهِ ٱللَّهُ يَجْتَبِىٓ إِلَيْهِ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِىٓ إِلَيْهِ مَن يُنِيبُ
13b
وَمَا تَفَرَّقُوٓا۟ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْعِلْمُ بَغْيًۢا بَيْنَهُمْ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌ سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى لَّقُضِىَ بَيْنَهُمْ 14a |

13b. Kabura ‘alal-mushrikiina maa tad-‘uuhum ‘alayh. ‘Allaahu Yajtabiii ‘ilayhi many-yashaaa-‘u wa yahdiii ‘ilayhi many-yuniib. 14a. Wa
maa tafarraquuu ‘illaa
min- ba’-di maa
jaaa-‘ahumul-‘ilmu
bagyam-baynahum. Wa law-laa
kalimatun sabaqat mir-Rabbika
‘ilaaa
‘ajalim-musam-mal-laquziya
baynahum. |

13b. As for the
idolaters, what you call them to is outrageous to them. God chooses to
Himself whom He wills, and He guides to Himself whoever repents. 14a. They became divided only after knowledge came to them, out
of resentment among themselves. Were it not for a predetermined decision from
your Lord, judgement would have been pronounced between them. |
It is commanded: That matter is a source of great anxiety and restlessness for the people who associate others with God Almighty, to which you desire to invite them i.e. Oneness of God, whereas it is not a strange matter. Entire Prophets (Peace be upon them) taught the same lesson to the people of their folks. But Guidance is in the Hand of God Almighty. He selects to whom He desires and shows him right path. However, He shows the right path to him who inclines towards Him.
After that, it is commanded: There is no suitable reason of contradiction in such a simple matter that “Incline only towards God”. They all know Him very well. But there is no remedy of it that they are entangled in the net of their desires intentionally. Every one of them molests others for own benefits. They forget the actual matter in mutual stretching and straining. If not for a word that preceded from your Lord about postponing the penalty until a specified time, they would have been ruined very earlier due to their evil deeds. God bless you.
