Punishment for disbelievers (L-2913)

فَإِنْ أَعْرَضُوا۟ فَقُلْ أَنذَرْتُكُمْ صَٰعِقَةً مِّثْلَ صَٰعِقَةِ عَادٍ وَثَمُودَ
13 إِذْ جَآءَتْهُمُ ٱلرُّسُلُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوٓا۟ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ قَالُوا۟ لَوْ شَآءَ رَبُّنَا لَأَنزَلَ مَلَٰٓئِكَةً فَإِنَّا بِمَآ أُرْسِلْتُم بِهِۦ كَٰفِرُونَ

13. Fa-‘in ‘a’-razuu faqul ‘anzartukum Saa-‘iqatam-misla Saa-‘iqati ‘Aadinw-wa Samuud. 14. ‘Iz jaaa-‘at-humur-rusulu mim-bayni ‘aydiihim wa min khalfihim ‘allaa ta’-buduuu ‘illAllaah. Qaaluu law shaaa-‘a Rabbunaa la-‘anzala malaaa-‘ikatan fa-‘innaa bimaaa ‘ursiltum- bihii kaafiruun. |

13. But
if they turn away, say, “I have warned you of a thunderbolt, like the
thunderbolt of Aad and Thamood.” 14. Their messengers came to them, from before them and from
behind them, saying, “Do not worship anyone but God.” They said, “Had our
Lord willed, He would have sent down angels; Therefore, we reject what you
are sent with.” |
It is commanded: O Our Messenger (ﷺ): If in the presence of these Signs, towards which Holy Qur’an has drawn their attention also, the people turn away and know not God Almighty, then say to them! I warn you that such kind of severe thunderbolt can come upon you as it came upon the folks of Aad and Thamuud. They were very strong and careless people. They ignored the Commands of God Almighty. Moreover His Prophets (Peace be upon them) caused them to understand very much again and again, but they did not obey the Prophets, who said to them: God Almighty commands that you must worship Him only and give up adoring others than Him.
They
began to say: Go away and mind your own business! If our Lord had willed, He
would have sent down His Commandments by means of the angels (Peace be upon
them). Why has He appointed you for this purpose? Therefore, we reject that
which Message you have brought. You are just like us. How did you become a
Messenger?
