Consequence of obstinacy (L-2905)

فَلَمَّا جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَرِحُوا۟ بِمَا عِندَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
83 فَلَمَّا رَأَوْا۟ بَأْسَنَا قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَحْدَهُۥ وَكَفَرْنَا بِمَا كُنَّا بِهِۦ مُشْرِكِينَ
84 فَلَمْ يَكُ يَنفَعُهُمْ إِيمَٰنُهُمْ لَمَّا رَأَوْا۟ بَأْسَنَا سُنَّتَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّتِى قَدْ خَلَتْ فِى عِبَادِهِۦ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ 85 |

83. Falammaa jaaa-‘at-hum rusuluhum- bil-Bayyinaati farihuu bimaa ‘indahum-minal-‘ilmi wa haaqa bihim-maa kaanuu bihii yastahzi-‘uun. 84. Falammaa ra-‘aw Ba’-saNaa qaaluuu ‘aamannaa Billaahi Wahdahuu wa kafarnaa bimaa kunnaa bihii mushrikiin. 85. Falam
yaku yanfa-‘uhum ‘iimaanuhum
lammaa ra-‘aw Ba’-saNaa.
SunnatAllaahil-latii qad khalat
fii ‘ibaadiH. Wa
khasira hunaalikal-kaafiruun. (Section – 9/14) |

83.
When their messengers came to them with clear proofs, they rejoiced in the
knowledge they had, and the very things they used to ridicule besieged them. 84.
Then, when they witnessed Our might, they said, “We believe in God alone, and
we reject what we used to associate with Him.” 85. But their faith could not help them once they witnessed Our
might. This has been God’s way of dealing with His servants. And there and
then the disbelievers lost. |
It is commanded: Learn from the circumstances of those people who used to live in the world before you. They were more powerful and stronger than you. They thought that who could be more powerful than them, so they got ready on disobedience. We appointed Our Prophets (Peace be upon them) from them and sent for causing them to understand. They disobeyed them, continued committing wicked deeds and began to say: We have known much in the world by our efforts and you can observe big developments. So they used to ridicule Our Messengers (Peace be upon them) and say: Reward and punishment, the Heaven and the Hell, life after death, reckoning of Account and the Day of Resurrection are self-made thoughts and whims.
When Our doom seized them, then they began to scream and say: We believed in One God, we repent and promise that we shall never associate any partner with Him. But having belief and repenting after coming of disaster is useless. God Almighty has prescribed this rule for his slaves in the world. When the torment comes, then disbelievers and disobedient people suffer loss.
