The End of ‘Aad (L-2914)

فَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ وَقَالُوا۟ مَنْ أَشَدُّ مِنَّا قُوَّةً أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَهُمْ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةً وَكَانُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَ
15 فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا فِىٓ أَيَّامٍ نَّحِسَاتٍ لِّنُذِيقَهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْخِزْىِ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ أَخْزَىٰ وَهُمْ لَا يُنصَرُونَ

15. Fa-‘ammaa ‘Aadun fastak-baruu fil-‘arzi bigayril-haqqi wa qaaluu man ‘ashaddu minnaa quwwah. ‘Awa lam yaraw ‘annAllaahal-lazii khalaqa-hum Huwa ‘ashaddu minhum quwwah. Wa kaanuu bi-‘AayaatiNaa yajhaduun. 16. Fa-‘arsalNaa ‘alayhim
Riihan sarsaran fiii
‘Ayyaamin-nahisaatil-liNuziiqahum
‘azaabal-khiz-yi
fil-hayaatid-dunyaa. Wa la-‘Azaabul-‘Aakhirati ‘akhzaa
wa hum laa yunsaruun. |

15. As
for Aad, they turned arrogant on earth, and opposed justice, and said, “Who
is more powerful than us?” Have they not considered that God, who created
them, is more powerful than they? And they went on denying Our revelations. 16. So We unleashed upon them a screaming wind, for a few
miserable days, to make them taste the punishment of shame in this life; but
the punishment of the Hereafter is more shameful; and they will not be saved. |
It is commanded: The people of the folk of ‘Aad considered that they were the most powerful in the world, whereas they had no right to consider so. And they began to brag: Who is greater than us in strength? They were ignorant who did not understand that God Almighty, Who created them, was Greater than them in Strength. They went on denying His Revelations intentionally, whereas they could know their Creator well by meditating in His Revelations; if they wished.
It
is commanded: God Almighty sent upon them a screaming wind during days of
misfortune to make them taste the punishment of disgrace in the worldly life;
but the torment of the Hereafter is more severe, and there they will find no
helper.
