Reason of ruin (L-2917)
|
وَمَا كُنتُمْ تَسْتَتِرُونَ أَن يَشْهَدَ عَلَيْكُمْ سَمْعُكُمْ وَلَآ أَبْصَٰرُكُمْ وَلَا جُلُودُكُمْ وَلَٰكِن ظَنَنتُمْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَعْلَمُ كَثِيرًا مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ
22 وَذَٰلِكُمْ ظَنُّكُمُ ٱلَّذِى ظَنَنتُم بِرَبِّكُمْ أَرْدَىٰكُمْ فَأَصْبَحْتُم مِّنَ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ
23 فَإِن يَصْبِرُوا۟ فَٱلنَّارُ مَثْوًى لَّهُمْ وَإِن يَسْتَعْتِبُوا۟ فَمَا هُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُعْتَبِينَ
24 |

22. Wa maa kuntum tastatiruuna ‘any-yash-hada ‘alaykum sam-‘ukum wa laaa ‘absaarukum wa laa juluudukum wa laakin zanan-tum ‘annAllaaha laa ya’-lamu kasiiram- mimmaa ta’-maluun. 23. Wa zaalikum zannuku-mul-lazii zanantum- bi-Rabbikum ‘ardaakum fa-‘asbahtum-minal-khaasiriin. 24. Fa-‘iny-yasbiruu fannaaru
maswal-lahum. Wa ‘iny-yasta’-tibuu fa-maa
hum-minal-mu’-tabiin. |

22. You
were unable to hide yourselves from your hearing, and your sight, and your
skins, to prevent them from testifying against you, and you imagined that God
was unaware of much of what you do. 23. It
is that thought of yours about your Lord that led you to ruin—so you became
of the losers. 24. If they endure patiently, the Fire will be their residence;
and if they make up excuses, they will not be pardoned. |
It is commanded: You were unable to hide yourselves from your hearing, and your sight, and your skins, to prevent them from testifying against you. But your worst thought was that you used to imagine that you can hide your deeds from God Almighty. Due to such thought, you are from the losers Today and have been tasting the severe torment. Now the Fire is your abode, whether you have patience or otherwise; and if you make up excuses, that is useless, because you will not be pardoned Today (the Day of Resurrection).
