Torment for the Thamud (L-2915)

وَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَهَدَيْنَٰهُمْ فَٱسْتَحَبُّوا۟ ٱلْعَمَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰ فَأَخَذَتْهُمْ صَٰعِقَةُ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْهُونِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ 17  وَنَجَّيْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ يَتَّقُونَ 18 وَيَوْمَ يُحْشَرُ أَعْدَآءُ ٱللَّهِ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِ فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ 19

17.  Wa  ‘ammaa  Samuudu  fahadayNaahum  fasta-habbul-‘amaa  ‘alal-Hudaa  fa-‘akhazat-hum  Saa-‘iqatul-‘azaabil-huuni  bimaa  kaanuu  yaksibuun. 18.  Wa  najjayNal-laziina  ‘aamanuu  wa  kaanuu  yattaquun. (Section 2/16) 19.  Wa  Yawma  yuhsharu  ‘a’-daaa-‘Ullaahi  ‘ilan-Naari  fahum  yuuza-‘uun.

17. And as for Thamood, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance. So the thunderbolt of the humiliating punishment seized them, because of what they used to earn. 18. And We saved those who believed and were righteous. 19. The Day when God’s enemies are herded into the Fire, forcibly.

Huuna – (humiliation),

There was mention concerning the folk of ‘Aad in the previous verses, who were physically very strong and who used to consider themselves most powerful. Prophet Hud (Peace be upon him) caused them to understand that they should not be so much proud of their strength because God Almighty is the Most Powerful. Signs of His Divine Power have been spreading in the entire world. So, after knowing Him, they should bow before Him with humiliation and obey His Commandments. But they denied. At last they were destroyed by wind-storm.

Circumstances of Thamud have been described in these verses. It is commanded: We showed them also the Right Path by means of Prophet Saleh (Peace be upon him). But they liked to remain blind and closed their eyes from Our Guidance. So it was their end that a severe earthquake came, the thunderbolt of the humiliating punishment seized them and they fell face down like helpless people. God Almighty saved the people who believed and used to fear Him.

After that it is commanded: On the Day of Resurrection, the enemies of God will be gathered to the Fire while they are driven assembled in rows (separate groups according to their wicked deeds). https://youtu.be/qzMLlVKbQT4
