Chapter “QURAYSH” (Winter or Qureysh) - 106
‘A-‘uu-zu Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah
from Satan the outcast)
Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

لِإِيلَٰفِ قُرَيْشٍ 1 إِۦلَٰفِهِمْ رِحْلَةَ ٱلشِّتَآءِ وَٱلصَّيْفِ 2 فَلْيَعْبُدُوا۟ رَبَّ هَٰذَا ٱلْبَيْتِ 3 ٱلَّذِىٓ أَطْعَمَهُم مِّن جُوعٍ وَءَامَنَهُم مِّنْ خَوْفٍۭ 4 |

1. Li-‘iilaafi QURAYSHIN. 2. ‘Iilaafihim rihlatash-shitaaa-'i was-sayf. 3. Fal-ya'-buduu Rabba haazal-bayt. 4. ‘Allaziii ‘at-'amahum-min juu-'inw-wa ‘aamanahum-min khawf. (Section 1/31) |

1. For
the taming of Qureysh. 2. For
their taming (We cause) the caravans to set forth in winter and summer. 3. So let them worship the Lord of
this House, 4. Who has fed them
against hunger and has made them safe from fear. |
Makkah is situated in a dry and stony land where crops cannot be cultivated. So grains etc. are not produced. In such part of the land – Quraysh, which was a title of the descendants of Nazar bin kinana, used to dwell. They had to travel twice during a year – in the winter season to Yemen; which was a hot Country, and in the summer season to Syria; which was a cold Country. All kinds of abundant crops are grown there. Since the people of Quraysh were attendants of Ka’batUllaah (The Inviolable Place of Worship), which was honored heartily by the entire people of the Arab, so they were served by all. Plundering and robbing was a common hobby all around, but the people of Makkah were not disturbed. Some days earlier, before the birth of the Messenger of Allaah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), Abyssinian Ruler of Yemen, named Abrah, assaulted on “The Square Building” along with elephants. A danger of entire Township’s destruction was felt, from which the people of Makkah were saved a few days earlier unexpectedly.
In this Chapter, the attention of the people of Quraysh is being drawn towards the same incident that, “These all matters are from Allaah Almighty Who is the Lord of this House “the Square Building”. He is Who put it in your hearts that you must travel to Yemen and Syria, by which you will reap more advantages. He increased the greatness of the Quraysh in the hearts of the people by means of “The Inviolable Place of Worship” and excited all of them to serve the people of Quraysh. He ruined the Army of Abrah by stoning through birds crowd upon crowd”. Therefore, the people of Quraysh must get ready to worship Allaah Almighty Who is the Lord of this Square Building and molest not His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), otherwise they will be punished very severely.
According to order, this is hundred-sixth
Chapter of Holy Qur’an which was revealed during primary day of Islam in
Makkah.
