Introduction of “The Overwhelming” (L-3449)
This is Eighty-Eighth Chapter according to order. It was revealed during primary times of stay at Makkah. Terrible incidents of the Day of Resurrection have been mentioned in it. The Day of Resurrection will be such calamity which will spread over the universe from all around and cover everything from everywhere. There will be two main groups of human beings. On the faces of one group’s people, there will be signs of humiliation, hardship and fatigue. Their abode also will be Hell, where they will be burnt in the flames of burning Fire. They will have to drink boiling water of spring and their food will be bitter thorn-fruit, which will neither nourish them and nor release their hunger.
The faces of other group’s people will be shining with pleasure and cheerfulness. They will be satisfied and glad due to their righteous works of this world. They will abide in high Gardens, where they will not hear any loose talking. The springs of water will be gushing everywhere. Silken carpets; high coaches and cushions will be spreading for their sitting, and drinking cups filled up with delicious syrup; will be placed before them.
After that, the attention of the mankind is drawn that he should guess about the Divine Power and Wisdom of Allaah Almighty by meditating in His creatures and be engaged in the worship of his Lord. One of those creatures is camel, about which there is a Proverb “Camel, O camel! Which part of your body is straight? – In short, mouth, lips, neck and legs etc. every part is strange. But Allaah Almighty made it a grand and sensible cattle, without which; the journey in deserts was very difficult during ancient times. Another creature is the sky, which we see over our heads without any support. And it is wonderful that as much we go at height, so much it seems more at height. Moreover, if we look at the mountains, we see its scenes at some places beautiful and at other places terrible. In addition, there are curiosities of the earth, which could not be estimated completely so far. Observe all such things and conjecture the Magnificence of their Creator.
Anyhow, O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon
him): You have to recite the verses of Holy Qur’an before the people and
explain only, whether the people believe or disbelieve. You have not been
appointed to compel the people to believe. Allaah Almighty will punish
them severely who will deny and turn away. Entire human beings will have to
return to Him and their all deeds will be checked.
