Remember the incident of “The Square Building” (L-3491)

Chapter  “FIIL” (The Elephant) - 105

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.

 (I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)
Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْفِيلِ 1  أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِى تَضْلِيلٍ 2  وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ 3  تَرْمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٍ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ 4  فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَّأْكُولٍۭ 5

1.  ‘A-lam  tara  kayfa  fa-'ala  Rabbuka  bi-‘As-haabil-FIIL.  2.  ‘A-lam  yaj-'al  kaydahum  fii  tazliil.  3.  Wa  ‘arsala  'alayhim  tayran  ‘abaabiil.  4.  Tarmiihim  bi-hijaaratim-min- sijjiil.  5.  Fa-ja-'alahum  ka-'asfim- ma'-akuul. (Section 1/30)

1. Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with the owners of the Elephant?  2. Did He not bring their stratagem to naught,  3. And send against them swarms of flying creatures,  4. Which pelted them with stones of baked clay,  5. And made them like green crops devoured (by cattle)?

According to Qur’anic order, this Chapter is one hundred and fifth, which was revealed in Makkah during primary days of Islam. In this Chapter, there is an indication towards an incident: Abrah was a ruler of Yemen appointed by the King of Abyssinia. He attacked on Makkah by the Army of Elephants for demolishing Ka’bah {(The Square Building) (The Inviolable Place of Worship)}, so that the people should turn towards his Ka’bah {(The Square Building) (which he arranged to construct in San’aa, Yemen)}. When he reached near Ka’bah (The Square Building) of Makkah, the birds assembled in flocks on the sky, stroke the Army of Abrah with stones and they had become like eaten straw.

It is commanded: This story is not so much old. Most of the people from you would have in their minds. We defeated the Army of Elephants very badly by the flocks of the birds when they came before Ka’bah at Makkah {(The Square Building) (The Inviolable Place of Worship)}. The birds threw stones on the enemies and their elephants, by which they were ruined.

The commentators have mentioned that this incident happened fifty days before the birth of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him). Some people say that he (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) was born on the same day when it happened. The aim of reminding this occurrence is that as We saved “The Square Building”, like this We shall protect to Our Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) also, who will spread the Religion of Abraham (peace be upon him) in the world. No evil-thinker can harm him anywhere and anytime.
